Clinton County, which is now represented by Republican Rep. Mike Rogers as part of the 8th Congressional District, would switch to the 4th Congressional District now represented by Republican Rep. Dave Camp. Rogers' district would also lose the southern portion of Shiawassee County to the 4th District. Calhoun County, now represented by Republican Rep. Tim Walberg as part of the 7th District, would shift to the 3rd Congressional District now represented by Republican Rep. Justin Amash. Walberg's 7th District also would pick up Monroe County, which now makes up most of the 15th District.

Congressional redistricting maps commissioned by the MIRS news service and drawn by Target Insyght show Branch County shifting from Tim Walberg and the seventh district to the sixth district and Fred Upton. The maps create 14 districts statewide drawn with the focus on being compactness and political fairness while following, as closely as possible, state standards and the U.S. Voting Rights Act. The maps create five Republican-based seats, five Democratic-based seats and four swing districts. The idea is to get the conversation started on what the final redistricting maps for 2011-20 could look like now that the 2010 Census data has been released.
