The list of activities he could take up that Moonjin had taken into consideration was endless, and at the very bottom of it, below about a hundred items that seemed more relevant to him, sat acting. Music was his passion, his dream, so why should he bother venturing into acting as well, only to, no doubt, be faced with more criticism than favorable reviews because the industry was already over-saturated with idol actors who were far from masters of their craft?
There were certain people at his company, however, who clearly thought differently. A year into his debut, he had featured in one of Silhouette's, a senior group under Gold Star, MVs, and the trainer who had coached him for that – in a very short time span, mostly advice thrown his way in between takes, since his role had neither been big nor very demanding – had recently sought him out again to mention ever so casually that acting was a good way to gain more fans. Before Moonjin had even had the chance to politely decline that kind offer(?) because he had other things in mind, he had been given the number of a fellow idol actor – fellow, like one MV appearance qualified him for being called an actor. Wish's Hyejung. A complete stranger. Delightful.
If there was even the tiniest chance it could help Impulse on the long run, he couldn't bring himself not to try, though, so he did eventually give her a call and, surprisingly, was able to arrange a meeting. The part after that was surely going to be much harder – at a lesson he didn't want to be having with a person he wasn't sure he wanted to take lessons from at all, having to pretend he was, at least to some extent, invested and enthusiastic? That, in itself, was an acting role.
With a small, polite smile, Moonjin stepped into the unfamiliar practice room, then offered the young woman a bow – she was his junior both in age and in the industry, he had learned while looking her up on the internet beforehand, but she was to be his teacher after all. Being respectful wouldn’t hurt. “Hello. I'm Impulse's Moonjin and I'm here to learn?” That hadn't been meant to come out as a question at all. What a start.
👀 how much do u love and appreciate choi hyejung
HONESTY HOUR // accepting!
“you sound like a jehovah’s witness.” cackles, rubbing his chin in a contemplative manner. “you’re taller than me so that’s a -50. i guess i love you as much as the media loves sooyeon? i mean, if it weren’t for her, their business wouldn’t be as flourishing as it is now.”
It wasn’t everyday that he came across an idol that could speak English as fluently as he did. He was only aware of a select few, and he was only friends with less than half of those, so when he was paired up with Hyejung on a variety show, he had the pleasure of discovering that she herself was an English speaker. That made the task assigned to them on the show all the more easy of course, and they were one of the first ones finished. After that, they had become closer in a sense. They were friends now, something he usually tried to be with his juniors, especially the ones who were underneath BC Entertainment with him. “You better not waste that kimchi I made, Hyejung,” he warned playfully, giving her a frown, before going back to eating his own food. “Go on, eat up. You’re getting too skinny.”

@miaxfmd!
had he fallen completely back into that trap that he felt for three weeks during 2013? namjoon almost felt.. lost. he was mainly quiet during japan, except for the performances and interviews that he did whilst there. otherwise, he was overworking himself, practicing, and everything in between. but, now that the japan tour was over, promotions for she is were completely; he did nothing but lay in bed for almost days. he only got out to bathe and eat. he’d lay awake at night, staring at the flashing images playing on the television screen. he sighs, staring upon his phone that laid next to him. he wasn’t completely sure of what to do.
should he message someone? he sits up, his fingers tapping together. he’s staring at the fingertips, taking a deep breath. he picked up his phone, looking through his contacts. he’s truly debating deep inside his mind.. would he be bothering someone? he could speak to haeun.. but then again, he didn’t want to bother her. he could try insoo.. considering insoo was one who would listen. but again, he didn’t want to bug him either. daeun.. yoonah.. ash.. all people he considered, but again, decided not to bother. hyejung popped across the screen, which made him put his phone down again. his mind goes over it again, she was one of the only people who truly knew the gist of it all. but maybe, it was time to admit that he was not okay, at all.
( message sent to lil hyejung ): are you awake? ( message sent to lil hyejung ): i can’t sleep.. i’m not okay.
* ੈ✩ of 10am office meetings; hyejung!
for @miaxfmd.
hanli wouldn’t lie to herself, but she had the smallest inkling of what was to come during the scheduled meeting at ten a.m. with management. she had always prided herself on being meticulous and this time, it was no different. the details didn’t escape her - the fact that only hyejung and her had been called in, the dance practices that was scheduled after and a pr meeting that followed. and for once in her life, hanli hoped she would be wrong.
she turned to face hyejung standing beside her, who seemed rather nervous and fidgety. attempting to be a good unnie, she broke her seemingly calm exterior and gave hyejung a smile before glancing briefly at her watch. “it’s time,” she announced as they pushed the doors open to the meeting room, dread filling hanli’s bones. please don’t let it be true, she pleaded. she would rather be yelled at for eating gummy bears and unhealthy snacks a few days, berated for her lack of discipline, reminded that she was only someone important because of her face, than to hear the words...
SUBUNIT. “hanli and mia. we’re still thinking of a name, but the two of you will be debuting in september. ” hanli didn’t think it could get any worse (well, it could have - a solo would’ve been infinitely times worse.) it wasn’t like she didn’t want to be with hyejung - no, she loved the younger girl. it was just that. . . she knew she wasn’t good enough. it was an indisputable fact, written in black and white. and the worst part was she’d robbed the opportunity from someone who deserved it more than her, someone who genuinely loved music and loved singing, someone whose talent deserved to be showcased to public.
hanli felt her heart drop to the ground.
* ੈ✩ d-day; hyejung!
it’s been years since hanli had felt this level of nerves, with the last time being when she was still a trainee and she’d been asked to prepare for a meeting with management the first thing the next morning, without any other instruction, not knowing what to expect. hanli had spent the whole night awake, lying in her tiny bed in the trainee quarters, thinking that it was her last day in korea, that bc had finally woken up and realized she was untalented and without any potential.
the meeting ended up to be informing her of her upcoming debut with bc’s new girlgroup.
however, this time, hanli’s pretty sure there isn’t going to be a happy ending. she gnaws absentmindedly on her nail beds, trying to ignore the fact that her hands haven’t been able to stop shaking for the last half an hour. she’d take hyejung’s hands into her own but she doesn’t want to the younger girl to ask questions nor does she want to lie to her with an excuse about caffeine and how it makes her heart race.
so, she finds herself reaching for a roll of kimbap they’d secretly bought from the store nearby, taking a bite and chewing slowly. she doesn’t have much of an appetite - it’s surprising, considering that hanli hadn’t had a full meal since the announcement of the subunit but in a way, it’s also unsurprising, because today’s the day of the music video release, the one that the two girls had been dreading ever since the filming of the teasers. goddamn.
she really doesn’t know what to expect - after all, she hadn’t had the courage to watch the final cut alone. would the ultra sexy teaser just be clickbait? or would it be a full representative of the final cut of the music? even the thought of it causes hanli to choke a little on the rice she’s devoring and she takes a few seconds to swallow down the bite and turns to hyejung. having spent more time with the girl in a few weeks than she had in months, she had found that the bond between the two had strengthened immensely, through shared tears, practices and meals. a stark contrast to their earlier friendship, hanli finds herself simply voicing her thoughts. “will it be as sexy as the teaser?” she asks. “or do you think it’s just okay like what wren unnie said?”
* ੈ✩‧₊ photoshoots ; hyejung!
most of the time, hanli didn’t mind photoshoots. in fact, she quite liked them - after all, she had been doing them before she even learnt to speak korean. they were rather easy, to say the least - all she had to was stand there and look pretty, smile, change up her pose once in a while. easy. (maybe hanli had always taken it for granted - she was always in her comfortable zone of cute, age-appropriate editorials.)
but, today was different and hanli was really not looking forward to it. she’d attempted to postpone it, put it off for as long as possible but hanli wasn’t much of a rebel and the most she’d done was pretend to be asleep when her manager tried to wake her up to enter the studio. at least it earned her an extra five minutes. hanli felt the dread sinking into her stomach - she could barely look at hyejung as they entered the studio. she knew she had to be strong for the younger girl, but well, she could barely stand on her own two feet at the moment.
she hadn’t dared to imagine what bc would put them in - no, hanli was lying, she had spent nights searching through bee and lipstick’s covers, trying to estimate the level of sexiness that bc meant by a sexy concept. yet, being at the costume area, hanli could only stare in horror and shock.
it was worse than she expected. way worse.
