Happy birthday to Mia Zapata of The Gits! Let’s never forget how she inspired the Seattle Grunge scene with her music, her ferocity, and charisma. Unfortunately, her time was cut too short when she was murdered in Seattle. Fortunately, her killer was finally caught, jailed, and died May 2021. Here’s my #miazapata tattoo. I put it up against the original picture, then added 4 more single ones. This is connected to my Facelift #laynestaley tattoo on my upper arm that reaches down past my elbow to connect to this and to my other Layne tattoo on the inside of my forearm. All done by @richwhite at @actiontattooauburn - Rich is the best in what he does and has a very great work ethic. I’m pleased with everything he’s done. I wanted to show the update on my “Layne-Facelift” tattoo. This is the first picture I shared when I got the first part done in early July. But we weren’t done. We eventually wanted to extend it up further on both sides, and bring it down past my elbow to meet up with my #miazapata tattoo and my other Layne tattoo which is on the inside of my left forearm. The 2nd & 3rd pictures are the top and bottom of the extension. I’ll post my Mia tattoo later on. Another addition to my growing magazine collection (with Alice In Chains on the cover). I started collecting them in 1989/90. This one is the September 2018 Edition from German rock magazine #rockhard. Inside there’s a big 4 page article on @aliceinchains and another 8 pages on Seattle grunge. It also has a small section that includes the musicians we’ve lost from the grunge era too; including #mikestarr #miazapata & #scottweiland You can pick up a copy on eBay, but make sure you don’t get squeezed too hard on the shipping. Some sellers will mark the magazine down, only to make up the difference in the shipping! 25 years ago TODAY (7/7) a brilliant pioneering singer/songwriter was savagely taken from us. Taken from us less than 1 mile from her home on Capitol Hill (suburb of Seattle). The aftermath was so great that many other bands crumbled as a result, unable to pick up the pieces. Please remember Mia Katherine Zapata and her band mates (The Gits), Andy Kessler, Matt Dresdner and especially Steve Moriarty who has discovered a way for our younger generations to experience her greatness!
