“I hate when my case doesn’t include the words, “Dead or alive.”  It makes my life so much harder than it needs to be.” D said to the agent standing next to him. He flicked the ash off the end of his cigarette and let out a distressed sigh. “Jandox better watch his back.”

         “If you’ve seen my lying sack of shit partner, please redirect him to my desk. We’ve got work to do and he’s conveniently disappeared.” T laced her fingers together, peering up from her perch at said desk. Though after a moment she gave a smile to her visitor, “That aside. Need something?”

“I’m just saying, nowhere in the job description does it say Men in Black have to be frumpy. It’s different for guys, they’re genetically disposed to look good in a suit. Women have to get creative.”

“Excuse me,” Z said as he walked over. “I was told you wanted to see me.”

The coffee in the pot is old and stale, and there’s a nasty looking slime close to the mug he favored that looks suspiciously… alien. All in all, the day wasn’t off to the greatest of starts, hence the cigarette held between his lips, lit and halfway through. If you knew him, you might notice the antsy behavior he displayed. No coffee means more cigarettes, which means more restlessness; add that on top of the fact that his partner has yet to show his face, and you have yourself an anxious and agitated man who was smoking in the ‘non-smoking’ break room. At least he had the decency to smoke near the vent — at least he thought it was decent.

C turned around in his chair too quickly, dragging his feet across the floor of his office in an effort  to steady himself and face the person who just walked in, smiling sheepishly after clearing his throat. “Good morning,” he began, choosing not to address the fact he almost just did a 360° turn in his chair. “I’ve got that paperwork you asked for, sorry it wasn’t sooner, I’ve been swamped.”

“these stranger things character playlists are bomb a-f.” agent jj leaned back in her chair, her feet up on the desk, music playing from a tiny speaker on her desk. she knew was being a general nuisance, but she was tired of listening to the click-clacking of keyboards all around her. jane schra’s urgent melody was much more interesting. “who did you get matched with? i got nancy, but i like eleven’s playlist more. t-b-h they’re all good.”

Case closed, Agent C found a moment of peace as the sun lowered over the glittering city in the distance. She took a seat, gazing towards the horizon. As another agent neared, she glanced up briefly. “Looks peaceful, doesn’t it?”
