You know you’re a technician when the Halftime show is on and all you can think about is the set up time, keeping track of mics, the cues for lights, cleanup, and everything in between.
Actors are often unaware of how much sound equipment costs. Like when I mic you I am literally putting approximately $500 worth of equipment on your body, so don't mess with it.
This is what the NY Times said about laptops 30 years ago. Fast forward to today, and the opposite is true. Now, to “log online” is to exist. Which is part of the reason why we’ve launched a Tech section.
