🎼 Part 7 of Acolyte Black History Month:
2023 Pulitzer Prize-winner and Emmy- and Grammy-nominated composer, Michael Abels, crafted the beautiful score featured in this series. The heavy percussion and striking string lines elevated the action and emotion in each and every scene.
Michael is best known for his genre-defying scores for the films Get Out, Us, and Nope.
Michael, we love your sonics and musicianship. Happy Black History Month! 🎵

Another Acolyte post. Spoilers. Keeping it minimal, but there'll be stuff about episode 5 and you should really watch episode 5 with as little info as possible holy shit. And I have no idea what to make of this. It's something I need to think about.
But at about 28 minutes into Episode 5, when Darth Teeth is talking to Osha, there's a snippet of music that sounds like Kylo Ren's theme. Seriously. Listen to that bit in the episode. It's played on a higher horn - I'm not sure which specifically, but it's a very clear melodic idea. Then listen to this.
This is one of the most clear and isolated examples of it I can find, the low brass clearly stating it. I'm not crazy, right? I have no idea what to make of this. You don't quote a theme that clearly without a good reason. But I'm sure I heard it. And I need someone smarter than me to help me out here because even though I'm sure I'm not crazy, I certainly will be if I don't have a good answer to this one.
i know that's right 😌💅
