NEW TRACKS: Passenger - “Hell or High Water”
Mr. Michael David Rosenberg, A.K.A. Passenger, is back after a much-needed break! Around the end of August 2017, he released a self-produced and recorded album titled The Boy Who Cried Wolf along with a post telling fans he was taking a rest after years of touring. But on May 18, Passenger returned to the folk scene with one of his best songs to date as well as a mysterious message hinting at a new album in the near future! He also released a post on May 22 with art for what appears to be an album called Runaway.
“Hell or High Water” is a phrase used when a person is determined to complete a goal no matter what difficulties come their way. In this song, Passenger talks about someone who he thought was the one. As time goes on, he begins to think that his determination to keep the relationship together is what caused it to fail. A great line in one of the last choruses is, “Was it a knife in my back? Or a fork in the road? Was it hell or high water that left us alone?” Passenger has seemingly had many relationships in the past that end rather sadly, but he sure knows how to write beautiful songs about them to help ease the pain. With the surprise single and possible album announcement, it seems Passenger wasn’t just been resting in his couple months off.
