@immicolia You once said in tags that you loved the picture of Doubs in which he “[stands] behind Michael looking like a shitbag” but the only version of it that existed was blurry at the edge due to being scanned from a book. I don’t know if you ever found a non-blurry version of it, but I thought I’d go ahead and upload these images from Vamp! IV anyway in case you never did. 

(I assume you meant the second picture, but technically our favorite terrible person Doubs is always a terrible person and included the first image as a failsafe).

Done and Dusted

Fandom: Vamp!

Summary:  Dorrikey, Watson, and a tagalong head for Northern Germany after QAWSED fills them in on a locked attic mystery that isn't a mystery, and investigate a madwoman who isn't mad.

Characters: Key Dorrikey, Watson (Vamp!), Michael Dietrich, Gerhardt von Waldstein, QAWSED/Hackey Mouse, Original Characters

Word Count: 13k words...more than double the max word limit for the challenge. Whoops.

Notes: As I alluded to above, this was written for r/fanfiction’s July 2017  challenge round. My challenge was to write for the trope Madwoman in the Attic, and not seeing it as viable for Baccano! I said, ‘what if the madwoman was a vampire?’ And here we are. This is my first time writing for Vamp!, and I don’t have a good grasp on how to write the characters at all.

And as I said above, the challenges have a word count range of min. 1000 words and max 6000 words, and I completely forgot about the limit until I was 5000 words too late to do anything about it. Whoops.

@immicolia - it took me a long, long time to work up the courage to even attempt a fic, and while I think this is a very shaky first-fic-for-a-fandom I hope it’s at least tolerable? I...tried. I have zero confidence in this fic, but I’m hoping I can improve my Vamp! immersion enough to write better ones in the future.

I know that Michael Dietrich’s first name is supposed be pronounced “Mihail” and yet for the past xyz years I have not been pronouncing his name as such in my head...gotta forcibly train myself to fix that.

Man, you know what? I really hope that (should Narita ever finally be allowed to write more Vamp!) Michael and co. don’t ever come across some sort of ‘cure’ for the paralysis of Michael’s right hand. No genius solution from Theo or The Professor. No Melhilm intervention. 

It’s a meaningful part of Michael’s character that I wouldn’t want him losing.
