Michael Faraday & Parma Violets?

Any other 80s/90s kids on here learn at school that Michael Faraday (inventor) invented Parma Violets - the love them or hate them no in between sweets (candy)?

Because I swear I did - we went to some museum or show or presentation OUT somewhere as a school trip and it was all about Michael Faraday and mostly what you would expect BUT they also told us he invented Parma Violets for his wife.

I remember this vividly because I did think at the time that inventing a sweetie for your sweetheart was pretty top notch romance. (NGL, is still up there).

The other thing that makes me sure is they gave us all a packet to remember him by and most people in my class hated them but I did not so I ate a LOT of Parma violets that day and felt quite unwell.

Consequently whenever I eat a packet of Parma violets I do remember Michael Faraday but having mentioned to my husband who looked at me blankly and then consulted the internets I believe this may be false advertising and they are JUST SWEETS.
