EverythingWillCome community member Michael Hahn is the man behind Mom Fears My Music, a venture he started in 1994, as well as the sound engineer at People's Light & Theatre (a really cool not-for-profit theatre in Chester County). Mom Fears My Music is a small collection of musicians, artists and audio engineers from Lancaster and Chester counties focusing on the production and support of independent artists in all genres.
Michael is a singer/songwriter from Oxford, PA. His first recording was on a 90 minute cassette tape on a home stereo system! His current work we have posted here, the song titled Cockroach. He writes, records, mixes and promotes local music, and recently recorded our EWC artist Bernie Sweeney. If you visit Michael's website you will hear one of the songs from that session with Sweeney, Bird-In-Hand. We both are hoping to do a record release party this upcoming year from the results of this session for Sweeney.
Over the past decade, Michael has recorded his own songs, performed both with a band or solo, and professionally has kept himself current and fresh by attending sound engineering workshops. All has allowed him to live out his passions in more ways than one. Especially with his full time job where he can wear many hats and be involved in a flux of ways for each performance at the People's Light & Theatre.
The theatre offers panto plays that really entertain, inspire, and engage the audience and community members. Michael definitely takes on their mission of making and experiencing theatre in a most holistic style. The curiosity that blooms from these plays, and by being a an audience member, I mean, you really get engaged in the story and might find yourself on the stage at any moment, pulled up by an actor/actress... you start to understand the world these professionals have built around the audience encased in these four walls of this special theatre.
Michael plays a key role in the shows with the sounds that you hear and experience through his live sound mixing. Next month he also will dabble with being a scenic carpenter and sound engineer for the upcoming panto shows next season: Shipwrecked, Of Mice and Men, and Shakespear's Will. As the company self proclaims, these plays and programs bring people together and provide opportunities for reflection, discovery, and celebration!
