Finally got around to drawing Michael and his dog . I drew him with Care A and Belle [ I think I messed up the age ranges tho ] rip Michael you would’ve loved nintendogs ..
(warning for eye contact)
"Um, I could have put other eyebrows on her,
but I didn't.
...
I put Mike's on her."
- Paul, Petscop 7
(i know i highlighted both Care and Mike's references with orange but. i don't have an option for yellow)
i dunno. something something putting Mike's eyebrows on Care gave a room with objects that still obviously Related to Care, and items that Paul seems to recognize. something something this implies Rainer had seen Care with eyebrows before, and knows that they look like Mike's.
something something Paul mentions finding "[his] room," and we know that he and Care look alike (/are the same person), meaning that his face likely looks like hers, too.
and what's the only room, using Care's face as a base (ignoring Care's main Child Library room), that we know Paul has seen and seems to have had a strong reaction to?
@that-darn-clown hey bestie...made some art <3
(slight warning for bright colors/potential eyestrain. maybe)
more "refs" for how i draw Petscop characters!
the Petscop Kids and the other two Leskowitz's :]
i view Belle as being a pastel goth, for some reason. fits her in my brain, i guess
@that-darn-clown (hey bestie, it's me Dandy)
hi, i dont know how tumblr asks really work so I hope im doing it right
about the petscop au, what exactly does he survive? and whats his relation to the family? is rainer still dead? whats his relationship with him if not?
really cool idea :)
hoo boy, here we go!!
Mike is Rainer's younger brother, making him Care(/Paul, 'cause i think he's trans)'s cousin and Marvin's (other) nephew.
i personally view Mike, personality wise, to be Rainer's polar opposite: a very bright, happy kid who's near constantly positive. heart o' gold, that's what he has.
as for what happened to him...it's never stated in Petscop, but an idea i've seen at least somewhat consistently (that i actually think is rather plausible) is that 1) Mike was hit by a car (a lot of the times Mike is mentioned, or implied (in the case of Roneth), there are mentions/references to cars and roads), and 2) that Marvin was the one to hit him (in Petscop 20, the textbox showing Mike's grave lingers after Marvin leaves the grave, in the Mark Family's garage (more clearly shown in Petscop 16), there is an orange car (believed to be Marvin's), and the only time we see anyone get hit by a car? in Petscop 22, while Paul's in "Shadow Monster Man" mode, he gets hit by an Orange Car). at the very least, this seems to be what Rainer believes.
in my own personal interpretation, Belle and Mike were around the same age (Belle was nearly a full year younger than Mike, however, but they were still in the same grade level) and were really close before Mike died.
also in my interpretation, Mike's death was an accident on Marvin's end. Mike ran out into the road to get the family's dog, Storm, and Marvin didn't have time to stop, and hit them both (resulting in Mike's death and the dog's injury). it is also one of the only events that Marvin feels any guilt over. (the other event being The Windmill Incident)
(^ related: this is also part of the reason Rainer wanted to put down the dog; not just to "put it out of it's misery," but because looking at Storm just reminded him of what happened to Mike)
before i get into a Really simplified timeline of the au, let me explain my "canon" interpretation of the events surrounding Mike's death to give you a better idea of what might immediately change:
Mike dies -> Rainer is absolutely fucking devastated -> Marvin decides to do a "test run" of rebirthing to see if it'll work and pulls Rainer in under the guise of showing him a way to bring Mike back from the dead -> Rainer, who feels as though he failed Mike, agrees to this -> Belle's rebirthing process happens over the course of a few months -> Belle's rebirthing fails -> this is the point where Rainer kinda goes "this sucks, actually" and continues working on Petscop as a way of keeping tabs on Marvin, leading him to discover the real reason Marvin wanted to test if rebirthing worked. the rest of the timeline goes on as normal from here.
so now, with that out of the way, au time!!
Mike still gets hit, but he survives!! but he does end up paralyzed from the waist down. and he's told that there's a chance it'll likely be permanent. Mike uses a wheelchair.
Rainer, who also understands what it's like for your legs to get real fucked up after a car accident (context: in my interpretation, Rainer got hit by a car when he was 14, and it ended up causing him to have to use crutches to get around), understands a lot of Mike's problems. so y'know! we get some extra brotherly bonding!
Belle's rebirthing still happens, but one major difference occurs: Rainer was never involved. Marvin had nothing this time around that he could've used to convince him that this would be a good idea (after all, Mike's still alive), so he does this entirely alone this time. their rebirthing, however, still fails.
Belle, scared that no one would believe them, calls Marvin a "Shadow Monster Man," making it sound like they didn't know who had hurt them, and just tried their best to go along with their life. at this point, the school closes down, and it is decided that, until a new building can be built/found for the Elementary School students, that kids in Pre-K through 5th grade would be sent to the Middle School and that the extra, unused rooms there would be converted to classes for the Elementary Students (there's multiple reasons why the school closed down at this time, including issues with money, but this incident had been the final straw that ended up closing the school).
however...Belle did tell one person. Mike, their closest friend.
Mike, while he believed them, was...confused. he didn't understand why Marvin would do any of that to someone, least of all a kid Mike considered his best friend. but he never made it obvious that he knew anything to anyone else, he just tried to be there for them.
the only person he told? Rainer. after asking Belle if it was okay of course.
Rainer, who had started getting suspicious of Marvin (who's behavior around Carrie was...different now) and had only looked though his things and knew that Marvin was planning on "rebirthing" Care (and not having any real clue of what that meant), is understandably horrified. Mike, however, who doesn't fully understand why keeping this a secret is bad (even if it's what his friend wants him to do; keep in mind he's in like. 2nd grade), begs Rainer not to tell anyone.
Rainer starts watching Marvin more closely now. Mike is now really worried about Care, because if Rainer's right, and Marvin is planning on doing the same thing to Care that he did to Belle...
Marvin kidnaps Care. Mike tries to constantly call him to get him to bring her home, because he thinks Marvin will listen to him :(
Care comes home! however, Mike now fucking hates Marvin. which is really saying something, because Mike doesn't hate a lot of people.
Belle gets adopted by Lina at around this point.
Rainer still attempts suicide on Christmas of 1997 (like i view him as doing in my interpretation), but he doesn't die until later (October 2000).
things kinda continue as normal up until that point, when Rainer "disappears."
(^uh...to explain my own personal headcanon of what happened there in the shortest way possible: Rainer was out for a walk when he walked out into a road. Marvin was driving by, expecting him to get out of the road, so he didn't slow down. Rainer just stood there and stared him down. Marvin didn't slow down in time, because he thought Rainer would move, and ended up hitting him. Rainer wasn't dead yet, though, and Marvin, instead of, y'know, Getting Him Some Help, instead just beat him to death with a shovel, buried him by the road, and took his crutches. Rainer had intended to die though, so that technically makes this an assisted suicide, although he's the only one who really knows that. Marvin was just scared that no one would believe it was an accident (keep in mind those two basically hated each other at that point, and The Family knew it), and so decided to Make Things Worse instead.)
a few months later is when Care got adopted by Lina.
Mike stays at home with his parents, and Anna helps with trying to take care of him.
now, onto some misc. fun facts!! (headcanons of mine)
Mike plays Petscop because he views it as the last thing he has left of his brother.
Mike really hates that he doesn't leave home too often. that's why he always gets out if the opportunity arises itself.
he works as an artist, and makes money doing commissions. his art has it's own unique quirk to it: Mike asks you what you want a painting of, and what sort of emotion you want connected to it. he doesn't ask what colors you specifically want: whatever emotions you want connected to your painting? that will determine the color(s) you get.
it's surprisingly pretty popular.
Mike, much like his brother, cannot put his emotions to words a good 90% of the time (albeit for different reasons than Rainer). it's why he does art Like That: he finds it easier to express emotion through colors and shapes than through words.
Mike has Autism, ADHD, and dyscalculia.
Mike's connected to sunflowers in my brain. it started when his parents and Rainer started calling him "Sunny" (he wanted a weather-related nickname like Rainer did (it was. not exactly a nickname)), and he started getting interested in sunflowers because he wanted a "flower theme" like Care did. so he picked sunflowers. his wheelchair has sunflower stickers, and his Guardian Guy in the game has a sunflower head to everyone else.
Rainer gave Mike the ability to paint in the Newmaker Plane. sometimes, he and Belle just hang out and draw and paint together. typically, he uses the paint to leave a trail for himself to follow.
due to Mike not being dead, Rainer actually ended up adding more to the Gift Plane. the regular game got finished. Mike has played it through dozens of times.
Mike wanted Rainer to add some things about what happened to Belle in the Newmaker Plane. because y'know. Marvin hurt Belle, too. and Mike wanted to make sure that was also documented. he even left some of his own Messages To Marvin in there as well.
Mike is still in contact with Belle and Paul!! he was really excited when Paul came out to him, and even made him some art :]
Mike's always viewed Paul as a younger sibling. Rainer did as well, but Mike was always more open about it.
that's all that's coming to mind! glad you seem interested :D
y'know. any time i think of a "Petscop au," it's not anything crazy, just "what-if" scenarios. stuff about how the timeline/certain plot events would change if something else had happened.
and one of the ones i keep thinking about?
what if Mike had lived? what if he made it to adulthood? what would've changed? what would've been different?
gotta go do schoolwork now, but. please ask me about this au of mine. i wanna talk about The Boy. i have Many Thoughts on The Boy.
