The Mind: Population 2

Lock the door, throw away the key, you’ve no right to be here in my memory

You’ve entered my mind, You broke in with ease, Did you do this on purpose? Or did you just find the keys?

My mind is one room, Where I’m alone with my thoughts, How’d you get in? Where’d you come from? And why haven’t you been caught?

Instinct is telling me that I need to expand, Build new rooms, add new locks, for the things that aren’t planned

With one room as a jail cell, To lock you away, Allowing me to think clearly, At least for a day

You play with my feelings, You drive me insane, Is that you in my head, Or just a migraine

It gets harder each day, To tell them apart, Is this love that I’m feeling, Or my broken heart

You’re a mind breaker, a thought taker, You’ve stolen my heart, But my thoughts are my own, My own work of art

So I’ll lower my barriers, For one final last time, To release you, get closure, And some more peace of mind
