Winterfell has become a place of shelter for orphans, widows and people with nowhere to go. I gladly opened our doors, and my heart, to all of them. If there is anything I’ve learn these past years, it’s what it feels like to have nowhere to go."
This pragraph is very special for me. Although it took me 100 years and a half to finish The vow of silence, and these lines are in the penultimate chapter, I had them clear since the very begining. This is how I wanted the story end; with Sansa returning to Winterfell and having found a home, but a different one from that she knew in her childhood. Things have changed a lot for her and for Westeros and the concept of family, the way she understood it, has change too. Now she is family for those who seek her, although they are not tied to her for blood, but for choice, friendship and loyalty. Rickon, Osha, Sandor Clegane, Shireen, Jeyne Poole, Jon Snow and the NW, even Gendry if he hears that there is Stark in Winterfell again and comes looking for Arya (which is one of my headcanons), all of them could perfectly be at the Stark keep at the end of Asoiaf, bounded one way or another to Sansa once she restores Winterfell. Because that’s part of the endgame of the series, i think. Once the war against the darkness and the Others ends, Westeros will never be same, and only those who adapt to that new wold would survive. And one of the main changes will be the deconstruction of the traditional family - that has been so important in Westeros for so long. Blood and titles will be less important and I wish that by then, Sansa would have realized of that becasue that will make her stronger.
