'And some man look nice with beards' he read the question in my face and said, 'So they don't ever have to face themselves in the mirror when they shave' Imagine yourself to be a lost cause, who gets lost in his own home. One day you find yourself ripping through universes, then studying in an organization where you have different versions of yourself, a girl with wings, brat for a cyborg, wolf girl or a giant!! Well Joey is this fellow and this book is all about trying to keep balance between dimensions. #neilgaiman & #michaelreaves co-wrote #interworld , has traces of Neverwhere and loads of physics facts with very predictable plot. Now I want part II and III. #sci-fi
Been reading this for a few days now. I love digging into the Clone Wars. #starwars #medstar2jedihealer #clonewars #michaelreaves #steveperry #currentlyreading #bibliophile #books #bookstagram #booklover #bookish #booklove
The Underappreciated EU : Darth Maul Shadow Hunter
One of the most amazing EU books, in my opinion, is Darth Maul Shadow Hunter. Maybe it's just because it's not the 'latest', or it's officially 'de-canonized' or because Plaguis or Bane were more influential. It's got good ratings, mind you, but it isn't talked about as much.
Cool and flashy as the villain is, he ended in his first and only movie appearance sliced in half and (we thought) dead. He did go on to some surprisingly awesome and terrifying appearances in the Clone Wars. But Shadow Hunter has something very few books can claim. You know, beyond a shadow of doubt, the ending. It's set right before the Phantom Menace. So you know Maul wins and probably everyone else dies. But amazingly, it doesn't reduce the empathy for the characters, or the excitement of the adventure. And even knowing how it ends, it leaves a feeling that the heroes did not lose or fail. They may not have warned the Republic or Jedi of this threat. They may not survive. But neither did they die in despair, or fear, or anger or by giving to the dark side. They went out in a blaze of glory and hope. Their aren't many books out there with the villain as the main character where you come out happy for the heroes, even if they die as martyrs.
