how do avery and dl show affection to each other? how much affection can dl take before getting flustered beyond words? what about avery? how do they support each other through tough moments?

DL shows affection trough acts of service, like brewing Avery coffee every morning, or updating all his devices when Avery cant be bothered. Avery on the outher hand shows affection trough verbal reassurances and physical touch. That can look like Avery showering DL in hugs and kisses, or holding DLs head to his chest. When it comes to sexual affection, DL can tank it like a pro, but he can not handle wholesome affection. He could run a 10k words smut fic in the back of his head without batting an eye but Crumble when holding hands. Avery is the direct opposite, he thrives in soft affection but he can not handle the spice. Tough times for DL are the horrors. He tends to curl up and ruminate on a thought or memory, and Avery helps him by talking him trough it, usually giving him physical space helps out too. Meanwhile, when it gets tough for Avery he either cant get out of bed bc of depression, or run around his home frantic and panicking. DL helps him by taking him into his arms, being like a weighted blanket.

Searching For A World That Doesn't Exist is such a good ARG. Do you have any headcanons for it?

If I have headcanons??? My love, I am severely autistic about the arg. The brainworms babe. Babe the brainworms.

The first time DL peeped the King in Yellow, it broke his mind. The second time he peeped the King, to censor it in the footage, it broke his real life body. A tentacle growth sprouted from his face, rooted deep into his brain. DL, after setting up the footage and warning, took his own life by hanging before the growth could spread further. The police found him like that. DLs body got taken by a higher authority, which paid off the local police force, keeping his body from his remaining family. He was transferred to a laboratory, where they cut him open and experimented on the yellow growth. After a month, they noticed that his body was refusing to decay. DLs body was silently worshipping the King, who rewarded it by the non decay.

DLs spirit is claimed by the King. He woke up after his death inside the Minecraft world, right at the crossroads. He stood guard, because he knew that Avery wont heed his warning. And he was right. Avery joined the game after watching DLs footage, and followed in his footsteps. They finally meet at the crossroads. DL tells him to turn right, to quit the game and to delete this cursed world. Avery finds himself incapable of quitting, as the option was taken away from the pause menu. Avery agrees to turn right, but first offers DL a hug. D3r takes him up on the offer, the first comfort hes experienced since he opened the world. But the longer they stand there, holding each outher, the more restless Avery becomes, the stronger the Kings call gets. D3r makes the decision for him, and kills him, sending Avery to spawn. For a couple agonizing seconds, DL holds his breath waiting for Avery to quit. Which he finally does. DL dissociates as the world around him deletes itself. He feels... nothing. Its the most peaceful he felt since it all started. But then he is grabbed by the King, who holds him in one hand. DL screams from the mental assault. The king speaks to him. "This is not the end. You will seek me out again, and you will find me."

DL is released from the world, but finds himself in Averys apartment, now haunting the guy. DL appears as a shadow, standing in the dark corners or at the edge of Averys bed. The Mayo boy is in complete denial of the haunting. After a month, Avery researches a way to recover the deleted world, and DL grabs him by the shirt and throws him over the table, screaming "what the hell are you doing?". Avery cant deny That.

I ship both slimeknight (wholesome yaoi) and d3rking (toxic yaoi). The dynamics are very good for the brainworms. DL swore to protect Avery from the King, and Avery does anything to comfort and heal DL. Meanwhile DL has conflicting feelings towards the King. Hatred fear, terror, disgust (rational) vs longing, yearning (irrational). DL is the Kings favorite, because he withstood the exposure. Also DL keeps fighting the King, resisting and disobeying, which makes him Fun. The King is Obsessed with him, like a Kid Obsessed with a bug. 💔

The King likes blocks and squares, hence why it chose Minecraft. You put a block puzzle infront of it and it starts putting any shape into the square hole. Why? Because I saw a fanart where the artist gave it a block puzzle and ran with it.

DL is very smart/intelligent, thats what we can all agree with. But in my mind hes very emotionally unavailable. While Avery might be a silly guy who doesn't know his lefts from his rights, to me he is very emotionally intelligent.

naive, happy go lucky, emotionally intelligent, skilled at pvp, lost when it comes to puzzles, a social butterfly, a sweetheart

Hes in his 20's, going to school. Hes dealing with his mid terms while also dealing with the ghost of DL

Actually deals with depression because of school and the exams. He masks at school and at home so to not worry DL. Until one day, Avery couldnt get out of bed for the life of him, and DL majorly misunderstood his suffering and was a big asshole about it. Later DL researched depression, found he himself has symptoms, and since then the both of them have been working on getting better.

Post King in Yellow, prone to emotional outbursts, quiet, brooding, ruminating

After taking his own life, he forgets many parts of his real life. He has trouble remembering his name, or how his body looked like (especially his face, since now theres a deep hole where the tentacle growth was). Sometimes he can still feel his body.

the only reason why it let's DL hide from it by living with Avery, is because the King likes to see them kiss

Funfact, but in its source material it has One line of dialog, and I think thats funny. Also apparently people call the King "Hastur". I need to read the play someday

Im imagining the king to be this massive, gigantic omnipresent, with many limbs and eyes and mouths, its face hidden behind a pale mask.

DL could fit right in the palms of Kings hands. It could hold DL in place between its fingers. Now im having this vivid image of the king putting its face to DLs body, while DL covers and trembles. I imagine many tongues or tentacles or both to sprout from under the mask, wrapping around DLs body, wringing under his clothing. Not because the king gets sexual gratification from it, but because it shows DL that it owns not only his soul but his body. << my thoughts while I drew that one d3rking drawing

dl forgets his life. lets explore that shall we

what kinds of things does he forget and how does that impact him? avery asks him what kind of movies he likes and dl just stares for a second like idk. dl sees a picture of his human face and doesnt recognize it at all but gets this really sick uncomfortable feeling. as he and avery are getting to know each other, avery rambles on about his friends and family and past life experiences and then asks dl about his life. dl awkwardly tries to come up with smth, anything, but just ends up changing the topic. dl showing off a skill and when avery compliments him dl realizes what he's doing and gets very confused and wonders where he learned to do that.

you are so correct, you get it exactly he forgets his human identity, the person he was before the King in Yellow brainfucked him with the knowledge of the universe. Like, what's your name? d3rlord3. No I mean your real name. Der...... lorde...... brother :/ He doesn't remember his face, nor his body. All he knows is his new shadow self. When he sees his corpse (which is refusing to decay) he feels this cognitive dissonance. That´s not him. (yet he feels a sense of protectiveness) The King in Yellow gave him infinite knowledge but took away the knowledge of himself. Anything that made him human is gatekept. The more DL fights it, the more he clings unto his humanity, the stronger the amnesia gets. He wont admit it, hes not really human anymore. But accepting that fact is accepting the impact the King has on him. Its accepting defeat.

Andy mostly would ramble about his work on the farm, what he got done that day and what he plans to do next

but he'd also share stories about Thomas; like when Andy tried a new recipe, and how it turned into a disaster bc a certain someone Wouldn't Stop Bugging Him

Peter would stay quiet for the most part, just enjoying his voice, but occasionally he'd chime in to trash talk Thomas

periodically, Andy would grab a snack (like a chocolate bar) to share with Peter, while also making sure they're both drinking enough

it'd be a chilled back and relaxing time, just enjoying the sun, the light breeze, and the company of the other

he was super edgy and emo back in the Inn days, trying So Hard to convince everyone how "big, mean, dark and scary" he was, which only made him look like a tsundere

when he first fell in love, it was So Obvious how much he crushed, despite him rambling about how he "doesn't care for anyone". It was always funny to see him shrink back and evaporate when his crush acknowledged him

once he had to crawl trough a vent system in the Inn to rescue someone, and his wing got stuck and his sister had to go rescue Him and the outher person

also- i think thomas should be allowed to absolutely suck at baking and when he's influencing andy, all andys baked goods come out wrong and he is SO salty
