In response to the rapidly rising intravenous opioid abuse epidemic, the United States Food and Drug Administration is currently promoting the development of prescription opioid tablets that are specifically formulated to deter abuse.

Susac syndrome is a rare syndrome most commonly affecting women in the 20-40 years age group, and is characterized by the clinical triad of encephalopathy, branch retinal artery occlusion and sensorineural hearing loss due to microangiopathy of retina, brain and cochlea.
