I'm so stoked!!! I just discovered a mineral I have never heard of before called "Sakura Jasper", and it really does look like Sakura blossoms with a soft green/teal background. It's so pretty!!!! It comes from Madagascar, and it's a type of Microcrystalline quartz/Chalcedony/Rhyolite (SiO2), with pink, beige and red flower-like inclusions made up of iron and other minerals. It was the only one they had in the shop! I claimed it right away! I honestly thought it was painted at first. I couldn't believe it was real until I actually held it, it has some really nice weight. It's SO COOL!!!!

I just felt like rounding up my ocean jasper collection, and doing a photoshoot in the sunshine, before the rain. They're all ocean jasper except for the large, mid-to-bottom left sphere with lots of red, that one is river jasper. They're both similar compositions, but different localities, and impurities inside the mineral that give different colours, I think, but they're both a form of microcrystalline quartz.

I absolutely LOVE my new very colourful fancy Jasper sphere, which is an impure form of silica, essentially microcrystalline quartz (chalcedony)! The colours result from the different mineral impurities and elements present during its formation, such as: Iron oxides, such as hematite (red, yellow, orange, brown), Chlorite (green), Clay minerals (yellow, grey, white), Goethite (yellows and browns), and other organic materials (various other colours). The patterns range from swirled, to mottled, to speckled. A very unique and beautiful piece! 💎
