I found a previously undiscovered population of Blackspotted Topminnows in southern Indiana! Almost all the topminnow populations I’ve found here have been Blackstripe Topminnows (the fish in the second picture)

Make fun of microfishing all you want, but with the ability to catch little exotic fish like this I won’t ever say no to it. This was my favorite freshwater fish I caught in California, the Convict Cichlid!

It is easy to see why the camouflage on these little Flathead Catfish is so effective

I couldn’t help but break out my microfishing gear while fishing Lake Meredith in Texas. I kept seeing these gorgeous Red Shiners in the shallows and I still needed that species for my list (plus they are just beautiful little fish that most people don’t ever stop to look at)
