the classic. it’s perfectly alright. apple has a weird thing with shading but i feel like it looks good on this emoji!! starting off strong with a 10/10

hey google? what’s this? thats not what a cowboy hat looks like. that looks like a sunhat. he looks happier than apple’s cowboy emoji, which i have to love, but that’s really all he has. 7/10, tentatively

this cowboy looks like hes seen some shit. he looks like hes smiling through the pain. the outline almost saves it but i dont know why hes looking dead at me with the brim of his cowboy hat a quarter down his eyes. how long are his eyes? what stories are behind them? the colours are good enough. 5/10

samsung..... why would u do this. why the gratuitous shading? at least the hat is right and he looks like really happy, the little eye shine makes it look good, but the shading. leaves something to be desired. 7.5/10

similar to apple’s, but i almost feel like this one is genuine. i dont know what about whatsapp’s smiling cowboy does it for me but it’s good! whatsapp generally has a good emoji 10/10

twitter’s cowboy, much like microsoft’s, seems dead inside. polite, sure. but dead inside. i don’t know what he’s seen, and i’m not sure i want to. 4/10

the hat???????????? why does is sit like that. i like the little slant to his smile, it’s a little mischievous, but the hat, i CANT get over. the shading is fine enough. 6/10 

emojidex you are incredible. fascinating. i love the little pink filter, i love his blush, he looks ecstatic but the HAT. that’s a sunhat that’s levitating off his head. i’m so sorry i had to do this. 7/10

Why Windows users aren’t getting the full emoji experience.

Max Slater-Robins on Business Insider writes:

Users of Windows 10 will be disappointed to find out that Microsoft has not shipped any of the new emoji from the most recent Unicode 8 version, that were first included in iPhones with Apple's iOS 9.1 update back in October.

"Windows has fallen pretty far behind in emoji support compared to Google and Apple," said Jeremy Burge, the founder of Emojipedia, a website that tracks the latest development in emoji. "[There is] no support for family combinations [and] no support for flags either."

Microsoft has been an emoji trailblazer at times, however. The company was the first to introduce the "hand with middle finger raised" character, for example.

How To Use Emojis On Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

Emojis are supported natively in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, and can be inserted using the built-in emoji keyboard.

Note: Windows 7 does not include an emoji keyboard, but does support emoji.

1. In Desktop Mode, right-click on the taskbar and choose “Touch Keyboard” inside the Toolbars section:

2. A new icon appears in your system tray in the bottom-right, which looks like a keyboard. Click this:

3. The on-screen keyboard appears:

Click the emoji smiley-face icon:

4. The emoji keyboard replaces the alphabetical keyboard:

5. Click any emoji to insert into the current text field.

Note: Use Internet Explorer for this. Google Chrome will display boxes instead of emojis when inserting them with the Windows Emoji Keyboard.
