Amiga World April 1994
The apparently inevitable conclusion to this issue’s cover story was shaped by configuring three different high-end systems (one including a name-brand PC in the form of the Dell Dimension XPS) and then selecting an apparently comprehensive suite of software. It did just so happen, though, that the Macintosh Quadra 800 bundle cost a little less than the PC’s. The editorial proceeded to call the Amiga “the choice of champions,” if also “the best-kept secret in the computer industry.” For those seeking to keep their older Amigas relevant, one article offered ideas that went as far as mentioning a company that would sell you an Amiga 1200 motherboard modified to work with an Amiga 500 keyboard; you did have to “trim away various parts of the A500′s plastic case” and use “double-sided tape” to make everything fit together and “save $100 to $150.”
