Finally, our regional bird, Micrown!
Based on a firecrest, one of the tiniest birds in the uk, alongside wrens and its close relative the goldcrest. Firecrests are probably one of my favourite birds, though I rarely get to see them because as the dex entry says here, their tiny size makes it very difficult, plus they tend to hide in flocks of other birds like blue tits.
The ‘little woodland prince’ nickname comes both from the firecrest’s genus name (regulus) can be translated to little king or prince, as well as an old story where it (or perhaps a wren) won the title of King of the Birds. By cheating. Look it up.
