I personally think he'd be more surprised that YWZ is his captain. I mean, Shaotian has eyes and let's be honest Wenzhou is super HOT, even back then.
totally valid, he is super hot, this is true! thought i think huang shaotian would be surprised that after all the name calling (because i love prequel novel canon to death) that yu wenzhou would be willing to give him the time of day, let alone take off his clothes for him. and hahah what if huang shaotian sees this future where yu wenzhou is his boyfriend and starts to wonder...wait does he like being called rude names. is he INTO THAT????
and poor yu wenzhou, who is in fact into it (and still coming to terms with that realization) is now having to deal with a huang shaotian who has stepped up his name calling and also added a flirty edge to it.
(and now i am also thinking about the au where yu wenzhou is kind of a scrawny teenager. when he becomes captain he starts working out more, partly because of the commercialization of blue rain and the pressure to look good. but also because he finds, to his surprise, that lifting weights is a great way to put his thoughts in order after a stressful day.
meanwhile, the entire fanbase of the GPA is freaking out because someone posted side-by-side pics of yu wenzhou in his rookie year versus yu wenzhou winning the championship and holy shit, he’s huge and he’s hot, when did this happen!? blue rain gets so many new fans! and huang shaotian is having a existential crisis about his hot captain and how did he not notice)
