    HAS THIS BAR ALWAYS BEEN HERE? It’s not a building Kenta has seen in the Docks before, and yet something about it seems so familiar. 

    Gaze roves along the walls of the establishment, settling on the bar itself — and the individual behind it. His eyes narrow ; the opalescence of the individual’s hair betrays either a penchant for peculiar colours, or a side - effect of powers they haven’t bothered to hide. Regardless, Kenta takes a seat, eyeing the bottles on the shelves behind the counter.

    “ Sake. Leave the bottle. ” A pause. “ Please. ”

 𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒚   𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒔   drag   across   the   background   to   squint   at   milly   ,   so   radiant   against   hazy   backdrop   of   shadows   and   neon   signs   .   “   the   world’s   always   spun   this   fast   ,   “   he   muses   ,   glossy   red   lacquer   on   his   nails   dusted   with   ash   as   he   flicks   his   cigarette   .   “   it’s   just   that   it   hurts   more   when   you   stop   to   acknowledge   it   .   “

 as   though   for   emphasis   he   drops   into   weathered   and   beaten   office   chair   ,   kicking   at   the   ground   and   hair   spinning   round   him   like   a   cocoon   ;   “   that’s   part   of   the   fun   ,   though    —   getting   dizzy   .   and   perhaps   the   vomit   too   .   “

Prosciutto would have apologized to Milly for deciding on a bar for a date, but he knew that energy of the swing lounge was entirely different to the daily ins and out of the bar where Milly worked. Upon entering, the band began to play a slow tune. The woman currently on stage crooned a sad note, letting it stretch and thin out into the smoke-filled air as the hum of the bass line supported the rest. A hazy light illuminated the dance floor into a soft cerulean as couples filled out the spaces.

Deciding that this was the optimal time, Prosciutto’s sharp blue eyes met opal.

“Please, allow me this dance.” he said with an outstretched hand towards his partner, knowing that whatever he lacked in talent for actual dance, he could make up in confidence.

No description could truly capture the luster of Milly’s opal eyes as glances were exchanged and drink was traded for lire. Prosciutto’s mission was to interrogate, capture and dispose of the bartender, suspected to be an informant for possibly a variety of factions. The dossier described Milly to be something of a flirt, smooth and amiable to compliments and interest directed their way. 

Truth rung as a compliment passed through Prosciutto’s lips, remarking how the light, airiness of Milly’s laugh, while it hung above the busy chatter of the bar, sounded so sweet and honeyed. Prosciutto watched as a knowing smile took in his compliment, knowledge upon his face that he had to work for his prey to fall into his arms that night. Goal-oriented, there was something exhilarating about the chase of the hunt that made Prosciutto adept at these sorts of missions.

Fingers brushed one another as a glass was directed towards him. A soft gasp pretended his mouth as he smiled slyly at the other. 

“Thank you, tesoro. I’m sure I am not the first to remark how your opal eyes are brighter than the real treasure?”

 𝒔𝒌𝒊𝒏   pliable   and   soft   under   ozzy’s   ministrations   and   cradled   in   his   palms   ,   he   peers   into   eyes   with   amusement   frolicking   within   own   hues   as   brows   lift   :   he   bestows   a   kiss   upon   brightly   -   colored   aquamarine   lips   .   and   another   .   and   another   .   flesh   like   peach   skin   ,   soft   ,   delicate   ,   squeeze   too   hard   and   ichor   leaks   down   your   fingers   .   in   their   wake   lies   lavender   smears   .   “   you   are   so   cute   .   “

 more   kisses   pressed   to   mouth   costumed   as   a   blue   rose   ,   lips   as   soft   as   petals   .   thumbs   pinch   at   the   skin   of   his   cheeks   .   “   oh   ,   i   just   find   you   so   lovely   .   so   beautiful   and   esteemed   :   yet   i   can   always   put   some   red   in   your   cheeks   ,   “   he   moves   ,   leaving   bright   red   mark   on   his   cheek   to   accompany   words   .   “   it   makes   me   feel   pretty   .   that   someone   like   you   would   want   me   .   aren’t   you   too   good   for   me   ?   “

Sweet lips left sweeter kisses.

No dimness in a room could put out the light from Milly’s smile, one that brought Prosciutto to the same barstool almost every night that month of August - the second to last on the left side, with the slightly faded edge and mahogany finish. Clever conversation and a sharp tongue followed clinks of glass whenever the assassin visited. A mission in his mind to take someone home for the night abandoned every time he was caught in the presence of the other. 

That is why when Milly leaned over the counter and kissed him, there was something on Prosciutto’s skin that was left with the ghost of an imprint of something warm and irreplaceable. A wry curve placed themselves upon Milly’s lips, indicating sage knowledge of this as gorgeous opal eyes continued staring at their handiwork. Prosciutto stared back at the other, forgetting the last words he’d been imposing into the air, wondering distantly if it even mattered.

 ozzy   likes   to   visit   milly   at   his   bar   as   much   as   milly   seems   to   like   visiting   the   gas   station   .   if   he’s   not   working   it’s   not   at   all   uncommon   to   find   him   sitting   at   the   bar   chatting   up   milly   .   he   likes   to   order   wine   and   whiskey   :   sips   are   frequently   offered   to   milly   ,   whether   he   accepts   or   not   .

 ozzy   almost   exclusively   refers   to   milly   as   “   mills   “   .   it’s   his   way   of   showing   affection   and   a   deep   love   for   milly   ;   in   his   eyes   ,   it’s   a   way   of   always   calling   him   “   baby   “   or   “   honey   “   .   he   will   use   “   milly   “   if   he’s   trying   to   be   completely   and   utterly   serious   ,   but   ozzy   is   very   fond   of   nicknames   .

 he   loves   milly’s   earrings   and   thinks   they’re   just   adorable   .   often   ,   he   swaps   their   earrings   and   could   spend   several   minutes   just   looking   in   the   mirror   with   milly   ,   pointing   out   how   pretty   they   are   :   especially   together   .   this   habit   does   carry   over   to   other   things   ,   ozzy   loves   exchanging   outfits   and   other   similar   things   .   he   finds   it   intimate   ,   as   he   hardly   ever   allows   people   to   mess   with   his   belongings   .

 he   enjoys   just   curling   up   to   read   with   milly   .   whether   he’s   asleep   or   also   reading   or   doing   something   else   ,   ozzy   will   always   find   time   to   lean   against   him   as   he   skims   through   a   novel   or   magazine   .   just   milly’s   presence   beside   him   puts   a   smile   on   his   face   .
