Ao I was going through my old journal stuff and I found one of my old fanfics and oh my God is it angsty. It was a pokemon Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 fic that slowly traveled into pokemon x and y and then sword and shield. (I hadn't gotten into pokemon until middle and played a bunch of roms)
First off, I chose the perfect gen to write an angsty middle/9th grade fanfic. Like, no better generation to write about a pokemon character losing their limb then the one where people get crucified in the Manga, BUT ALSO I REWROTE IT SEVERAL TIMES. God I was an angsty child.
Honestly, if anyone is interested in hearing about it, I will embarrass myself because I feel like it needs to be shared.
Do you ever wonder if your middle school self would like your present self?
Like in middle school I was obsessed with anime and typically liked the dark-haired, handsome characters who were usually pretty bad (with a few non-dark-haired or good guys added into the mix). And I was super shy and wanted to go into psychology.
Today I am obsessed with a Star Wars character who is tall, dark-haired, and handsome who is pretty bad and I have come out of my shell a little bit...not to mention I really like singing. Science really just isn’t my thing...
Would my middle school self agree? Would she agree with my crush? What would she think of me being more outgoing? Would she be sad that her at-the-time crushes would eventually end and that she doesn’t get a boyfriend by the age of 16? (That was my goal all throughout middle school. I’m 18 and that hasn’t happened at all lolz.) Because I don’t even like any real people--just the one fictional guy. I know I used to think that my crushes would never end, but here I am--crushing on guys from my school ended over a year ago. What would she think of my singing? I used to HATE opera and thought it was stupid, but now I might actually go into that because I appreciate its art and difficulty.
You really didn’t have to read this far. It was mainly for me to release my thoughts because I’m tired and have been procrastinating on sleep and homework for awhile now. And I’m waking up early to do more homework because I do not want to do anything right now. I know that my middle school self would probably hate me and criticize me for staying up late and would call me whiny and bratty. And you know what? I’m gonna quote Kylo Ren on this: “You are so right.”
Man, this could be a writing prompt! Okay, if you’ve made it this far, then think about it for a moment and write. You can even reblog and post your beautiful thoughts to this if you want.

It is 10:15 a.m. and I woke up like 15 or 20 minutes ago. It seems extreamly nice out because what made me wake up was sunshine. I love when sunshine wakes me up. My dad is demolishing the pantry leading towards the kitchen and that didn’t even wake me up.
I was going through my old fanfiction profile and I have never experienced so much embarrassment and regret over my middle school years.
20 Day Writing Challenge - Day Twelve
Heck Yeah Tumblr Challenges 20 Day Writing Challenge
Day Twelve - "Write a letter to anyone you want."
My Dearest and Most Miserable Middle School Self,
It gets better. I know you don't believe me, but I swear it does.
It might seem like all the stuff you're experiencing seems world-ending or really important, but you'll get perspective. You'll meet new people. You'll have more experience. And in all honesty, you'll realize there's a lot more serious shit to worry about than having people like you (or be afraid of you) or having a boyfriend or a best friend or a "life."
You could worry about all those things. And maybe you're better off because you'll know how to deal with more taxing concerns later. But the truth is, later in life, not only will you start to worry about more "important" things, but you'll start realizing all the future things you're going to worry about.
For example, for me, I know that I'll eventually have to worry about mortgage payments, maintaining my salary, scavenging whatever might be left of my relationship with a significant other, as well as with myself. All that shit is maybe a pessimistic way of looking at it, but I know that those things are very possible things I'll have to worry about in the future. If I have kids, I'll have to worry about them. Getting them through school and helping them survive and not be complete shitheads that are meaningless to society.
BUT. With all that stressful shit that's always going to be around the bend, there's also a bunch of new stuff that I'm excited for and that you should be excited for! You're not always going to live in Westport, CT, where you hate everyone because they're not like you. You'll find a place where there's a lot of people like you, but still learn to get along with all kinds of people. You'll start to "get" people more. You'll come to terms with the fact that you're not made of stone, and that's okay. You'll fall in love. With people, things, places alike. And gradually you'll start to fall for yourself, too. You'll start realizing that all that time you spent fantasizing, writing, drawing, and just emoting was actually leading you somewhere. It was making you, the same way what I'm doing now is going to make a future me.
I won't promise that it's going to get easier, because it most certainly doesn't and won't for me, either. But since when did you ever make things easy on yourself? I know you think everything sucks now, but c'mon. There are plenty of things that are good. You're not failing, you're not addicted to drugs, and you're already starting to do what might later become something more.
It'll be okay. People will always suck, but that doesn't mean that you have to.
Hang in there.
Love,
College graduate self
P.S. People will keep telling you that you have to be a certain way and take certain tests and be a certain person. You don't have to agree with them. In fact, they're all shitheads. Do what you want, just don't kill anyone.
