He let out a small sigh but looked her in the face and tried to be honest. “It’s not that it doesn’t bother me. It’s that… well. There was no other option for me.” He hoped she’d understand, unlike most of the people who criticized him and Yifan for leaving the way they did.
Listening intently to his words, she nodded along to make sure it was known that she was paying full attention to what was being said. In truth, Lizzy felt somewhat bad for him. Hearing all the stories, and seeing the news; she had to admit, she was on both his and Yifan’s side for this one. Their needs and feelings were just as important as the next person. She never fully understood the point of chastising someone for doing what’s best for them. “I understand. And, I’m really glad that you did what was best for you. In the end that’s all that matters.”
