Another illustration for my good buddy @midgetnazgul‘s story, "The Chain", which is a great, good-times read.
This correspond to chapter 5. The other illustration is more evocative and meaningful? But I’m not gonna deny myself the opportunity to draw a bit of an action scene.
These are painted on watercolor paper using sumi brushes with ink hand-ground from an ink stone, in the way of traditional sumi-e practice. That felt like the appropriate tactic to take. Actually, I've been cheating, somewhat, also using some small round brushes that aren't actual sumi brushes, for some of the detail work. On account of most of my sumi brushes being on the larger side. This one also has a little touch of white gel pen. A reverential approach to materials has never been something I've been known for.

Thank you, that makes me feel a bit better about my weirdness. :)

we are blessed
It’s insane though.
Like I don’t know what’s going to happen but it feels like it’s gonna be too much but I don’t know how it’d be changed.
I've been serving as a sort of location scout and Sonoran Desert consultant for a work of "Overwatch" fanfiction being written by one of my dearest friends. @midgetnazgul‘s story is entitled "The Chain", and you can read it here...which I recommend doing, because it's excellent. An action-adventure novel about two outrageously-attired secret agents going on a road trip and having Moody Assassin Feelings. I had no particular emotions about these characters going in, but it's such an engaging story that I'm really enjoying it. So much so, that I decided to illustrate the whole dang thing. Because violence and friendship!

Another illustration for my dear friend @midgetnazgul‘s story, "The Chain", which is great and you should read if you like action-adventure novels about people who are bad with feelings and then are eventually surprised to discover that they are having feelings.
This correspond to chapter 4. I already did two others for this chapter, but it was so good. So much good stuff.
