Midnight Forest - By Gwendolyn (7/10)
Love and obligation. Is it really true love if you have to give up everything else in your life? In this story both male leads struggle with their toxic feelings. They end up in a fairly happy relationship, but it's um........questionable...

Gene Forrester:
He wasn’t certain why he allowed the elemental spirit to follow him back to his home, but he definitely wasn’t going to complain about it. The light spirit seemed fascinating.
“If I may ask,” Finny asked, jumping over a fallen tree. “How does one become a vampire?” Gene looked over at him with inquisitive eyes.
“Incubus, technically, but I prefer the label vampire,” Gene murmured. “And exactly how you’d think - you get bitten, you crave blood, you prefer nighttime.”
“What’s the difference between the two?” Phineas asked, stopping to peer at some animal.
“An incubus, according to people’s stories, preys upon sleeping women. I have no taste for women or their souls, so I imagine that incubus and vampires are one and the same, just guised as something different,” he shrugged.
“I don’t either,” Finny said, his voice a tad solemn. Gene glanced over at him, waiting for him to continue.
“Oh! Liking girls, I mean. My mother doesn’t understand why, but she thinks it might be a family lineage trait. Her uncle doesn’t either,” Finny shook his head. Gene smiled faintly.
“I see.”
I found this candle at Target today that is literally how I've always imagined Derek Hale smelling. "Notes of mint leaves, balsam fir, and apple while the base of sandalwood, moss and musk cultivate a forest scene at night." Mmm, yes.
