Falling, the sensation of being pulled by the earth and shoved by gravity from above. My head hits the hard marbled floor, my torso across the doorway of the train and the platform. The sound is heard, the chiming of the bell. With a smooth and fast movement, the doors slam shut. Stuck between static and soon-to-be dynamic, I look to the front of the train. I see a man running towards me, I hear the grunts of those desperately trying to pry open the doors. The grunts of those on both sides, to accomplish a task so futile. The last chime. The doors move apart, I feel the shock of the ripping force.
I jerk, wincing from an overly active imagination. The train is moving fast in the dark underground tunnel, the door closed behind me. I slowly lean back against the door, putting my weight on the glass panel beside me instead of the door. I stand there on the train, music enclosing me from the noise of society.
I look out of the window as the bright light of day floods the train. I see an overhead bridge and start walking on it. I walk in the heat, under the blazing equatorial sun up in the cloudless sky. I look over the handrails, an easy task of climbing over them. I fall over the side, pushing my weight over the rail and pivoting over it by sheer centrifugal force. I don't hit the expressway but contact a van on the way down. Beginning at my feet, a shock of pain runs through my body. I feel the strength leaving my body, I feel the icy grip of death. I feel the chills of the very thought of death, it makes me feel alive.
Once again, I jerk back out of my revelry and back into the train. It slows again as it enters the next station. I look out at the many people who block the doors, I see a schoolboy. The typical rude schoolboy you find, he had a crude tongue and the foul friends to go with it. He moves forward, eyeing me all the way as I eye him. I lash out at him as he steps within striking distance. Surprised, he too lashes out blindly. Kicking and grappling each other, we fall down onto the linoleum flooring of the train. I, using my superior weight, force him down. His head on the edge of death, the bell chimes. Once again, the train starts moving. His friends cry out as the train forces a single being to stay in two places.
And once again, I jerk back out of my revelry. I'm at my destination, all is fine. Not a speck of trouble or anything out of the bored normality of my life. As I exit the train, I see paramedics running up onto the platform. I see an ambulance outside as I exit the station. Surely there couldn't have been an accident.
