while everyone else around me thrive in summer i made a playlist about how much I hate it. you’re welcome

We’re two weeks away from the summer solstice, which has me dreaming of fireside gatherings, grilled sausages and beer, tiny cold shots of akvavit, and strawberry cake in the garden. Akvavit is a classic swedish schnapps from the south that is quite easy to make yourself, and goes delightfully with the midsummar smörgåsbord! 2 tablespoons of aniseed 1 tbsp fennel seed 1/2 tablespoon of caraway seed add all, in a large glass jar— Add 1/2 cup of brännvin (vodka!) to cover. Seal and shake once a day for up to a week- if you start it on June 10, it will be ready and chilled for midsummer! Strain and bottle, diluting the essence as needed to taste. Store in the freezer, best drunk ice cold. Skål! Do you celebrate the summer solstice? Anybody else feel hugely empowered after watching Midsummar? I watched it last night and left it feeling a serene sense of peace? I've experienced grief like that in my life, and too see it depicted in such a natural and realistic way left me feeling...comforted? To see a woman accepted and encouraged to express her grief with no judgement, no negative reprecussions, to see it shared by a wider community, gave me a huge sense of validation. An odd feeling of peace.
