a postcard from afar found its way into my hands today—

a delicate fragment of the world,

a quiet whisper from Xinyang, China,

carrying the pulse of an ancient folk tradition, alive in movement, emotion, and ritual.

during the Spring Festival, villagers gather,

each bearing statues that embody their community’s spirit.

they come together in a ritualized contest—

a symbolic challenge where teams express their strength and unity,

a beautiful clash woven from history and heart.

the last statue standing tells a story of victory and resilience.

this moment was captured by Nico, the sender himself—

a frozen breath of energy, color, and culture,

raw and unfiltered.
