"DOG DAZE OF SUMMER"
by Telmo Miel
Dutch artists Telmo Pieper from Rotterdam, and Miel Krutzmann from Amsterdam, met at the Willem de Kooning Academy and started painting together in 2007. The duo formed Telmo Miel in 2012 and together their complex visual narratives typically add humor and a touch of the romantic to their human and animal subjects. While well versed in traditional painting techniques the artists often distort and overlap images and recent paintings contain elements of playful abstraction as seen in this 2017 work in Eugene, Oregon. This mural at Broadway and Charnelton St was created for the @20x21EUG Mural Project. @telmomiel/

“FAR FROM TIRED”
TelmoMiel
In 2007 talented young illustrator/designer Telmo Pieper met Miel Krutzmann, who had already been practicing graffiti for several years, while both were at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. Telmo had never worked with a spray can before meeting but Miel showed him the possibilities and they started to work together on walls and created a graffiti crew called Codex Inferno. After breaking with a third partner the ambitious Dutch duo officially formed TelmoMiel in 2012. Working together seamlessly the two both enjoy working in realistic styles and say they are able to switch places whenever needed. For Pow!Wow! Long Beach 2016 TelmoMiel turned their environmental concerns to the California brown pelican. Street Art News reports that this painting on The Promenade between 3rd St. and Broadway, of an infant sleeping with the pelican, “tells us that we have to take care of the world we live in and make sure we don’t add more precious animals on the list of extinction. Be less human, more being.” @telmomiel @streetartnews @powwowlongbeach @scenesfromthesidewalk
