Mielone z mizeria i ziemniakami (Mielone with mizeria and mashed potatoes)
“Mielone” would roughly translate to “many things minced”, simply because they are from minced meat. In my home we ate them usually in set with mashed potatoes and the cucumber “salad”. So here I will present you a recipe for a dinner. I am pretty sure it is also eaten in other countries, but I will admit I have no information about that whatsoever.
Everything given here was enough for four people but it also honestly depends on your appetite.
Ingridients
For mielone you’d need:
500 grams of minced meat (the only difference between type of the meat is the taste. I was once recommended the turkey meat, but pork or beef are completely fine)
1 onion (for taste, you can skip it if you want)
plate of breadcrumbs (in case you don’t have any of those, you can prepare them earlier by gritting a hardened bread/bun or you can just use panko)
salt and peper (or other spices)
optionally: a milk-soaked bun
For mashed potatoes I just take two big potatoes on one person - when you mash them, you can add whatever you like. For me, favourites are butter with salt and some garlic.
For mizeria you need two big cucumbers and a small sour cream (I never know what specific kind of sour creams there are in the countries, but for me that would be a small package of 12% sour cream, usually getting 200 grams per package).
Preparation
Only if you want: This is something my grandma would do, so I also put it in here - if you have a bun that is few days old (which means it is still good but it is hard), you can put it into the milk to soak overnight). Then you can add it later into the minced meat for taste.
Boil water and salt it when it would be warm. Put potatoes inside and wait for them to be soft enough to get the fork through easily.
Cut onion into small peaces and fry it on the pan.
Put meat and onion (and soaked bun) into the bowl and mix it with hands to get the ingridients together. Season the meat if you like.
Shape a piece of meat into a ball and put it in the breadcrumbs till everything is covered.
Fry it on the medium heat untill they have a darkbrown color.
Peel two cucumbers and cut them into slices. Put them into the bowl and pour over the sour cream.
Everything is ready! Enjoy your dinner.
