What's the rest of Miffys party like?

ohhhh i'm so glad you asked TT__TT yay i have so many images to answer this with. ok. the party are called The Whorlpool, and from left to right in the pic above, the (original*) party consists of: Reno Kaseno, a Lalafell Gunbreaker; Purpetua Deutros, a Miqo'te Arcanist; Miffy, a Viera Black Mage; and Wandering Anchor (aka Anka), a Roegadyn Dragoon/Paladin.

*i say original because they have since inducted a DMNPC into their party: Cardamum Sartorius, an Au'ra Red Mage. she's the daughter of the BBEG! more on her later. also Andymion kind of counts too

Reno Kaseno is the character of my dear friend @doppelgender! Reno is a gambling man from the city of Treno who loves a good card game and hates owing people money. Reno is pragmatic, funny, and easily the heart of the group. he's deeply charismatic and a fantastic liar when he needs to be. Reno's quick thinking and excellent charisma have saved the party's ass on multiple occasions.

Miffy relates to Reno the most out of anyone in the group; they both have people in their life who they feel as though they have allowed to come to great harm as a direct result of their own actions, and their interactions with that person are deeply infected with that guilt. also they're the two best dressers in the group (Anka and Purpetua only have drip because they let Miffy dress them).

Reno's greatest priorities are his friends, his money, and the opinions of others. he has little desire for power and little love for his home.

Purpetua Deutros is played by my lovely gf @purpearls! she is from the spiritual apex of Oaxia, the holy city of Ennewhorl. she is also the spiritual center of the party, and the one with the closest connection to Leviathan (the major deity of this shard).

Purpetua used to be a medic for the Church of the Broken Wave, but used magic to heal a fellow soldier once which was a grave sin in the eyes of the Church. she deserted shortly thereafter and has been feeling like she is trying to atone for her time with the Church since then.

she is easily the most collected member of the party and frequently has to be the voice of reason when the others have terrible or dangerous ideas. though sometimes she has incredibly terrible ideas of her own

Purpetua is compassionate, intelligent, and idealistic. she tries to meet others where they are and connect with them whenever she can. her priorities are her friends and their health, as well as love, praise, and the truth! she has no interest in fame, wealth, or power - she's very pure of heart.

also she and miffy do a lot of dancing around each other sapphically. miffy's constant engagement with evil shit and unethical magic + purpetua's commitment to remaining Moral and Good makes their courtship very interesting lol

the final member of the original party is Anka, who is the character of my good friend @catmanjohnson. Anka is a former pirate who used to intercept and raid Church sea vessels. her original crew sailed on a ship called The Whorlpool, and they disbanded after their captain was killed as the result of a battle. Anka was the one who suggested we name our party 'The Whorlpool'.

Anka is the muscle of the group for sure, and has no problem being the bearer of bad news or causing problems for other people LOL

Anka is confident, aggressive, and EXTREMELY impulsive. she loves drinking and being loud and having a good time (who can blame her!!!). her priorities are her friends, family, and power. things like praise, love, truth, and fame are not major concerns of hers.

also Anka has a necromancer-biochemist now sharing her body who gives her cool powers and nags at her

then there is Cardamum Sartorius (we call her Cardi for short)!! an NPC played by our wonderful dm @whoreofavalon. she is one of the daughters of Saint Sartorius, the leader of the Church of the Broken Wave (the BBEG)

Cardamum originally met the party outside of Leyfall where she pretended to be a nervous young mage who just wanted guidance and safety. she was, in fact, completely intending to betray us and throw Leyfall to the wolves, but our DM said that we treated her so kindly and patiently that they couldn't bear to have her betray us (': so she's part of the party now yaaaay!

Cardi is kind, thoughtful, and far too good for the evil ass family she was born into. she is still trying to figure out who she is in the context of being her own person, but she's doing a great job and we're all rooting for her!! she lets Miffy pick outfits for her also (':

Andymion (also a DMNPC) is technically a member of the Whorlpool too? but he like doesn't come along on our missions or fights or anything so he's not really part of the "party" if that makes sense? Andymion is an intelligent, passionate, generous man who stretches as far as he can to take as many people under his wing as he can. he is well intentioned, and a good person, even if he did break up with his last girlfriend by insisting they move somewhere else together but that she go first, and then sending her a breakup letter via owl once she had settled down. unforgivable.

i have! been going through your 'the tenth' tag again because i love miffy and i think y'alls game RULES! i will read any and all posts about miffy/the tenth every tidbit is so!!! its good!! last ask makes me wonder if there's a character that miffy loves but you, as the player, knows is TerribleTM? idk its v fun when there's that kind of dissonance between character and player whichever way it goes hdsfkj (apologies if this seems rambly im just!! i love people's ocs!! and character limit is my)

ooooohhh that's such a fun question!! there's two answers to this kinda - the first answer is definitely Geiger sfhksdhkjdf

i, as the player, am able to recognize that a guy who is an assassin who turned against his former employer and is now cooperating with you is a huge liability and should not be trusted, but miffy just sees him and goes "oh that's my evil bestie!!! ^_^" (this being said i LOVE Geiger also but he is. definitely not the most trustworthy guy LOL)

the other answer is probably the Matriarch? who is the Greater Voidsent who Miffy has made a pact with

in Miffy's defense, folks on the Tenth shard don't know as much about The Thirteenth/The Void as ppl from The Source, so her naivete is more understandable. it definitely would be nice if she has lucked out in making a pact with one of the few Voidsent who don't just want to kill her once she wears out her usefulness!!! but it's equally likely that that's not the case lol

miffy definitely has other minor cases like this, she would be completely dead by now if not for her friends looking out for her

any fun updates on miffy and your dnd game?

awwww oh you're so sweet ty for asking...!!! TT__TT we haven't played recently bc of holidays and stuff but we're currently inside the void inside a volcano now which is pretty sick... we're fighting a Primal that has been corrupted by a Voidsent (horrifying and cool)

update-wise... hm.... i don't think i ever talked about miffy's Clown Assassin friend, Geiger? who is an assassin who is also a clown, not an assassin who kills clowns

he was originally hired to assassinate the party but we were apparently entertaining for him to watch so he held off on killing us for a while. then he saw miffy make a pact with the Void and he, as a Void pact-maker himself, took an interest in her. he appeared one night when miffy was keeping watch and informed her of all of this. at the time, he told her that he couldn't miss the chance to speak with a "Daughter of the Matriarch" like her.

at the time miffy had begged him not to kill the party and he was like "ummm no lol my client is paying me a lot to do this so".

but later!! he ended up coming to the party's rescue when the party was fighting the daughter of the client who had hired him. miffy was 2 HP away from being Super Dead, and Geiger put his own life at risk by taking the evil daughter to the Void and trying to fight her there to buy the group some time

the fight with his client's daughter nearly killed him (it's ok he got better), and that was enough to earn miffy's friendship and trust. everyone else in the party hates him or is wary of him given that he was explicitly sent to kill us, but miffy really likes him. he risked his life and his integrity as an assassin, and him doing so is the reason she's not dead!

we got a chance to remove his mask after he sorta-died and it turns out a part of his face has become like a black hole. when he sorta-died, his new body crawled out of aforementioned black hole.

miffy's noticed that, lately, her empty eye socket is starting to look more and more similar to his....

Oh if you're playing a Final Fantasy XIV campaign, have you fought any primals? I've seen statblocks for Garuda, Leviathan and Ifrit online before

ohhhh this is an awesome question *-* YES we absolutely have! we've fought 4, with a confrontation with a 5th one coming up soon... we've been calling them Eidolons on the Tenth :3c i've got little pics and blurbs about each of them below! content warning for body horror for some of these!

the first one we fought was named The Pale Lady! it was originally born when the Church deployed a caustic bioweapon during a battle and hundreds of people who were in excruciating pain all collectively prayed for their own deaths. this Eidolon had been lurking in a swamp collecting corpses since then. our DM called it the Eidolon of Agony iirc!! it was such a cool boss. i love the concept of "whatever you do, don't pray for salvation"

the second one we fought was named Dorado! he was like a giant conquistador-looking guy. he was born from the continent's richest (and greediest) man, Augustus Ul'gustus, harnessing the power from a font of lightning aether and turning himself into an Eidolon. we fought Dorado in Augustus's vault, so it was this really cool theme of fighting this epitome of greed inside of his temple to his own wealth. our DM called him the Eidolon of Avarice!!

[These next 3 images were all drawn in the last day and a half so don't laugh at how messy they are please lol]

the third one was born from the collective fear and terror of an isolated nation being invaded by the Church, which brought to life a giant statue of their god, Asura. the statue then marched into the ocean with the plan to head back to Oaxia and destroy the Church (as well as everyone and everything else there). we had to fire a giant bolt into the statue and run across the chain it was attached to it and then climb inside the statue up to its hollow head, where we fought the manifestation of the Eidolon! because the Eidolon was a fear-induced bastardization of the actual deity Asura, Asura themself granted us aid during the fight (by letting our healer summon 6 arms and pummel the living shit out of the Eidolon)

the fourth one was from the volcanic island nation of Ahmeta, which had a giant bird named Fenghuang who was their peaceful and benevolent guardian despite Fenghuang technically being an Eidolon. then a greater Voidsent called The Great Ink pulled Fenghuang into The Void and corrupted him, and we had to fight him while we were in The Void, trying to close a voidgate! luckily, once we defeated the corrupted Fenghuang we were able to use some aetherial defibrillation and the Power Of Memory/Love to revive him uncorrupted, so he was able to happily return to his job as guardian of the island 🙏 (once we closed up the voidgate ofc)

the fifth Eidolon, which we've learned about but haven't actually confronted yet, is called The Memento, and it's what the Church uses in Montalvo Anti-Mag Security Prison to keep their mage prisoners in check. The Memento is a manmade Eidolon - it was first built as a mechanical framework, and then flesh and guts were summoned into it and it was given life as an Eidolon. all of the mage prisoners in Montalvo (except Miffy's dad who has The Echo??? for some reason???) have been tempered by it. tempered prisoners aren't aware that they can cast spells, and they have no desire to leave the prison or revolt. kind of an ingenious way to imprison mages. creepy as fuck

Has Miffy met anyone on her adventures that she hated more than anyone?

oh i love this question so much, thank u for asking it!! ＼(*T▽T*)／ the answer is that YES she very much has, but the identity of the person she hates most completely changed very recently. i spent way too much time making pictures to help explain this bc it's kinda tangly

but TL;DR she used to hate the person she (unfairly) considered responsible for her ex-husband leaving her and being arrested by the evil church but now she hates the person actually responsible for her ex-husband being arrested by the evil church

so for the last like 40 sessions her anger has been levelled at Andymion because, to her, there is an empirical fact that if Andymion had never founded the Citadel, Azar's sense of justice never would have made him want to go there, and he would have stayed with her. therefore, in her mind, Andymion ended her marriage and is responsible for Azar being captured by the Church lmfao. this is obviously a deeply unfair stance for her to take but she is famously selfish and doesn't really care that she's being unfair as long as she has someone to blame for her unhappiness who isn't herself

but she recently found out that Tashi Dutashi, who she had considered virtually family, is the one who tipped off the Church that Azar was leaving Leyfall, which led to the Church arresting him. so this guy is actually genuinely responsible for Azar being captured by the Church. he is now the person who Miffy hates more than she has ever hated anyone or anything

now that Miffy's anger has been redirected to Tashi and focused to a high frequency beam of pure hatred, her opinion of Andymion has shifted. now she has a neutral/positive opinion of him

so now she's deciding exactly how she wants to make Tashi Dutashi suffer

she was!!! for 3 years

they split because her husband, Azar, wanted to head north to join the Citadel, a bastion of resistance against the Church, but Miffy didn't want to leave the safety of the hidden city of Leyfall. Azar wanted to go where he could help best. Miffy just wanted to stay safe & out of sight of the Church.

so he left Leyfall + Miffy behind, in pursuit of the Citadel, and Miffy has assumed for the last 2 years that he'd made it there and chose to never write to her because he felt guilty, or maybe because he sincerely never wanted to hear from her again

but she just found out (via solving enough puzzles to convince an omniscient fey to answer 1 question for each person in the party) that Azar only ever got about 3 miles outside of Leyfall before the Church apprehended him and took him to Montalvo, an anti-magic prison

so for the past 2 years Miffy has been deeply pissed off that her ex-husband never kept his promise to write to her, & she assumed he had already moved on and settled down with someone else and forgotten about her and she had resented him for all of that, but he's been in fucking MAGE JAIL...

(so obviously a prison escape plan is in the works)

WOW ABSOLUTELY YES THANK YOU FOR ASKING <3 there's def certain stuff i wanna talk about but can't yet, but i can give u A Nice Introduction!

btw for campaign context: a religious order called The Church of the Broken Wave holds power over the land, and they outlaw the use of magic by anyone but themselves. some people are fighting back against the church, but Miffy is part of the people who are content in not doing so. she lives in the mage city of Leyfall which is carved out of the inside of several mountains. in Leyfall, folks teach magic, learn magic, research magic, and generally use magic freely without immediate threat from the Church. Leyfall is broadly self-sustaining, but make no mistake: this is a city populated heavily by academics who almost never see natural fucking sunlight bc they are stuck in a mountain

Miffy is a 32 year-old research scientist/research mage from Leyfall! she wasn't born there - she was born and raised by the coast, and came to Leyfall when she was 18. she was mentored by the woman who brought her to Leyfall, and she eventually worked her way to her own lab, her own research projects, and her own accolades.

she's very sociable, tries very hard to get along with folks, and loves making new friends, but when it comes to work she prefers to do her research alone. nearly all of her papers are single-author, save for her earliest ones with her mentor, and ten or so from a chunk of time a few years ago.

her favourite type of research work is anything that lets her blow shit up. her second-favourite type of research work is examination of the exact models that underpin the physics of magic. how can we define entropy in magic? how can we calculate it? what does it tell us?

out of a stupid formality, researchers in Leyfall publish under a pseudonym they just call their 'publishing name'. it's the equivalent of putting 'Dr.' in front of someone's name. Miffy's publishing name is 'Mephistopheles'.

there are a couple of rumours floating around the physical aetherology labs as to how Miffy ended up losing an eye and getting all of those scars. none of them are even remotely consistent, but all of them are equally convinced they're right.

Miffy is a woman of simple pleasures: she likes white wine, smoking weed & hanging out with her cat, having a good long cry on her chaise lounge every now and then, and sleeping in the sunbeams of light that come in through the mountains

Miffy got swept up in the campaign's current events out of sheer convenience (wrong place, wrong time), relentless whimsy, and the desire to just be around other people for a bit. she can afford to take some time off from work - might as well go on a journey about it.

basically miffy is like a 32 year-old postdoc who feels like her life has completely fallen apart despite the fact that she's actually pretty much fine. who then gets swept up in the murder of a government official and is like 'well. in for a penny.'

(combat-wise she's a black mage and her spells focus a lot on fire and lightning, with a few movement spells, etc etc)
