Sadly, he wasn't deemed hot-helmed enough for the Guard and was directly placed into the Intel Division. He gained his name both from his heel mods and due to another cadet he feuded with - telling them to "jump off a cliff" - mysteriously suffering a debilitating falling injury. Nothing could be proven, of course; he was too calm and methodical to leave tracks.

He's madder about not realizing Longarm was a Decepticon infiltrator than he is about having technically almost offlined Blurr. Don't get him wrong, he got along well enough with the mech, but how could he not have suspected a thing!? Also, frag Sentinel, that constant reeking of humility is borderline Decepticon, yuck.

Cliffjumper remains incredibly loyal to Ultra Magnus, though that's more due to being given a place in the Autobot War Effort than loyalty for loyalty's sake - think the vibe of "Hagrid owing Dumbledore" from Harry Potter, the Slytherins' brand of loyalty.

Mighty Morphin' Bean:

While Cliffjumper was the one to suggest interfacing, and Azoth was a welcome surprise, he still hadn't intended to Spark or get Sparked. It isn't a shy bean, but prefers to be left alone. Cliffjumper has been training it as a spy; it kept its sire's frametype in this 'verse but also has its carrier's personality. He'll station it in rivals' offices to retrieve later on, spoiling it rotten for every bit of juicy gossip it relays.

Mighty Morphin Bean III

The tunnels below Cybertron’s surface ran deep, forming a complex labyrinth one could easily get lost in. For this reason any mech who came down into the tunnels usually stayed close to the surface and dared not stray too far from their entry point. Shockwave had discovered the tunnels and their potential during his time undercover. Knowing that they would make a useful place to hide should his position be compromised, he had searched the oldest parts of the data archives to find any plans or informations on their layout. After downloading the data he needed he  made sure the files were corrupted beyond repair.

The coordinates and instructions he had sent to Cliffjumper would lead the Autobot into the mostly forgotten underground tunnels and to one of their many crossings. Shockwave’s current hideout was not far from there, and once he had made sure his former secretary had come alone he was planning to take him there. After his comm call with Cliffjumper, one decacycle ago, he had carefully set up his security measures as well as a backup hideout. All of it done in preparation for a possible beatrayal, which he was hoping would not come. @frustratedsecretary

Though the meeting with the sire of his Sparkling had left the Intel Prime jittery and paranoid somebot would find out about him - about them.

Fortunately, Cliffjumper was known for being jumpy every time a new Decepticon scheme was discovered, and so most mecha brushed off his behavior.

Would Shockwave contact him again? Was the Shifter waiting on him to make the first move, as some indicator he was willing to corroborate?

He just didn’t know.

Azoth, on the other hand, was ecstatic. EM field happily flickering, Azoth practiced changing its paint scheme as well as mimicking various parts of a Cybertronian’s frame. One of Azoth’s favorite mecha - a real go-getter, had provided the Sparkling with a small touch-screen programmed with anatomy lessons, enthralling the tiny bean for megacycles.

Cliffjumper leaned back in his chair, stretching his sore shoulder articulators. He ex-vented softly, looking around the office; his Sparkling had vanished again. Spotting multiple datapads lying next to each other, he reached out a servo, hesitating. That one. He brushed two digits along its side.

The datapad blurred and morphed into what some mecha colloquially referred to as a ‘bean’.

Tickle. Darker patches spread across its front. Funny.

"Do you know what time it is, Azoth?” The red mech smiled softly.

The Shifter-class Cybertronian’s sides wiggled happily and it opened and closed its mouth a few times.

“You got that right.” Cliffjumper held out a servo, allowing his Sparkling to flow around his digits and form a band around his wrist. It morphed again, forming what the Intel Prime had discovered was a Terran invention, a wearable chronometer, primitive even by the humans’ standards. The dial on its face spun before pointing to the current time.

He tickled its sides again, pulling his servos away with a frown and tapping the communicator on his helm. Who could be pinging him at this megacycle?
