I absolutely love this thing, and my staff have learned it is a bellwether for their boss' mood. Admittedly Smiling Skywalker is seen much less frequently these days... with Scowling Skywalker and Seriously Annoyed Skywalker far more common in my office...

I bought this Mighty Muggs at an overpriced toy store somewhere in Asia but don't remember where exactly. I do remember it was not as expensive as everything else in the shop and the shopkeeper tried for a moment to argue that it had been wrongly marked... but too bad I didn't understand a word he said 😁 and he gave up. MINE MINE MINE!

Anyway, I wish us all a return to the days of Smiling Skywalker.

I've never been a Funko Pop hater much before-- I've always been pretty indifferent about them. I even own a couple from characters I really like, such as Gage (Pet Sematary), Spider-Man Noir, and the Alien 40th anniversary version. I enjoy those things so I enjoy the Pops I have that represent those interests.

That being said, these things have been part of the pop culture zeitgeist long enough that you would think by now they would no longer be relevant. Mighty Muggs were the exact same type of toy and they didn't last nearly as long.

I realized today just how tired I am of these plastic space wasters being STILL so strongly prevalent in the space of pop culture merchandise.

This is relevant because with Christmas season being here, I'm trying to find gifts for all the people I love and most of those gifts are going to come from that cultural space; so the "nerdy" pop culture shelves are where I look most. I have been in at least 3 stores where their dedicated section for pop culture gift items is, no exaggeration, taken up at least HALFWAY by a a mountain of these soulless uninspired generic identical pieces of plastic waste.

I recently learned of a new 10" Funko Pop 10" figure of Galactus. When I went to (pre?)order it, I discovered a new-ish Heroclix Galactus as well, and wound up ordering that. Had a bit of a mishap but eventually sorted stuff out and got it from Amazon. I then finally ‘pulled the trigger’ and ordered the Labbit figure, spending more than I should for something so tiny but figured it was cheaper…
