Right so LaVeyan satanism is not what most people mean when they say “theistic satanist” I just tossed it in to disambiguate. Hermetic and Gnostic satanism are Christian traditions that acknowledge the existence and power of Yaweh and choose to throw in their lot with Satan with the understanding that He performs miracles and is in opposition to the will of God but they do not acknowledge magic. Wiccan reconstructionist Satanism is basically Wiccan occultism modified to adhere to Crowley’s demonology and worldview. I have strong feelings on it that are very similar to my feelings on Wicca in general and I won’t get into it but basically it makes magic and worship a specialty as opposed to a natural part of life for anyone who acknowledges a pantheon, and this tendency carries pretty much one to one into the satanism. Idk exactly how many external perspectives you’ve read on LaVey, but it’s based much more on Ayn Rand’s writings than the will of any of the original demonic powers and it has no goal of bringing about the Apocalypse. Totally a valid way to be a satanist, but it does explicitly deny the premise that satanic worship must be evil, which in my view misses the point. Very much a response to Christian cultural dominance, and you can see that in how LaVey basically doesn’t cite any magical rituals except the stuff Crowley invented and doesn’t really seem to see legitimacy in non-Christian beings that embody the values of the Christian Satan.
