————————————————————————————————————–
You made your way down the hall towards the door, hearing your husband arrive home.
“Hello, love.” He pulled you close, gently kissing your nose. “How are you feeling?”
Pregnancy was an interesting ride.
You were several months in it, finding that your mother’s tales were in fact, true.
Plenty of cravings, aches, and most of all: enormous happiness.
“The baby and I are doing fantastic.” You smiled. “Even better with you here now.”
“Speaking of which,” He knelt down, his hands gently setting on your stomach. “have you felt anymore kicking?”
As though on cue, you felt your muscles twitch with the baby’s movements.
Jumin’s eyes widened to the size of saucers before a crooked grin spread across his face.
“Looks like they wanted to say hello.” You snickered, watching the utter fascination on your husband’s face.
“Do you think they realize?”
You tipped your head in confusion. “Realize what?”
“That they have the absolute best mother possible.” He glanced at your belly, chuckling. “Do you?”
“Only if they realize they have the most amazing father.”
“You always say the kindest things.” He sighed. “I don’t even know the first part of being a father truthfully.”
“Well, I think a good way is to talk to your baby.” You remarked.
He thought on your words for a moment.
“About what?”
“Whatever you want.” You said. “How about…describe yourself?”
“Describe myself…?” He nodded. “Alright, I suppose I can try that.”
“I’m…your father.” He let out a soft laughter, clearly a bit embarrassed. “And I’m arguably the luckiest man alive. Do you know why?”
You raised a curious brow, unable to hide your widening grin.
“Because of your mother.”
Your cheeks burst into a bright red.
“You see, I used to be very lonely. But someone like me could never vocalize that, so I shut myself off and tried to become accustomed to that emptiness.”
Your lips parted to speak, but you couldn’t manage the words.
“But then I met your mother, and she was so understanding and kind to me even when I was in my most pathetic state.” He hummed. “She gave me the ability to finally open up to someone. She’s…my strength.”
“Jumin-”
“And I know, that even if I make a mistake here and there, you’ll still end up being twice as amazing as I’ll ever be because you’ll have your mother beside you as I do.”
“Darling,” You knelt down in front of him, pressing your lips to his forehead. “You’re a wonderful person you know that right?”
He was hesitant, folding his lips.
“Well, you are.” You huffed. “And you’ll be an incredible father, just as you’re an incredible husband.”
“I hope so.”
You cupped his face with your hand, warmly grinning.
“I know so.”
