“The dog was dead and then it was not and that is all I can tell you. I couldn’t say what drew it back across the knife’s edge between this realm and that other one; all I know is that the dog lives.”
— WIP Introduction: House of My Mother
genre — magical realism, mythology, literary fantasy, coming of age
status — vaguely planning for draft two
themes — grief, healing, diaspora, hunger and desire, the concept of a homeland, matrilineal connection, hauntings and longings, what we do to the people we love in the name of loving them
features — sapphic filipina girls, a vaguely sentient jungle, lots of queer yearning, gratuitous mentions of The Filipino Wooden Spoon, a semipermeable veil of death, maybe some gutter dogs as a treat if you’re good
summary — Magdeline Rillera is a haunted girl. In the wake of her mother’s sudden and tragic death, Magdeline’s estranged grandmother reaches out with an invitation to grieve in her family’s ancestral home. Upon returning to the rural Philippine village, Magdeline finds both the land and her Lola much stranger than what she remembers of her childhood visits. Here, nothing is as it seems: time is meaningless, shadows haunt every window in the village, the girl next door is hiding a secret, and hints of magic seems to follow her grandmother wherever she goes. Adrift in a world without her mother, Magdeline slowly maps the world the Rilleras have always grown up in, finding it at once startlingly foreign and achingly familiar—and she can’t help but wonder why her mother ever left. As she begins to heal and consider the idea of love after loss, she must come to terms with the fact that her mother wasn’t who—or what—she thought... which is only made more complicated as the land around the village seems to gain a life of its own.

Gay Confidence vs Gay Panic
Summary of Bad Buddy ep 3
Pat : *himbo noises*
Pran : No ❤️
The mere fact that the storylines and subplot get kinda resolved and addressed so quickly should tell you how good of a storyteller P'Aof is. While a lot of the other dramas would happily drag a story (one with such emotion and impact as Pran's guitar arc), P'Aof knows it is necessary to establish enough foundation to the story in such a way that the pacing of the present relationship seems real and normal. He's done such a great job and we're just 3 epi in. I can't wait to see till the angst hits and we get to see his genius in full motion.
Bad buddy might be an enemies to lovers au to you but to me it's a childhood crush coming of age story
Current mood
Pran : Do you hate me?
Pat : I would literally take a bullet for you but sure
