I would like to thank the Duffer Brothers for the piece of art which they unintentionally created - the romance between two male teenage best friends, who despite all odds (inter-dimensional monsters, the 80s, dimensional monsters (bullies)) are so fragrantly in love and adoring of one another - masked only, in vain, by the swift work of dialogue in the final two hours of a 46 hour television series.
Unintentionally, the Duffer Brothers have highlighted the beauty of humanity - people who identify as a part of the lgbtqia+ spectrum have always existed. Whether you like it or not. Whether you realise it or not. Love is irrevocable. The love between these two characters shines through cinematically, thematically, and literarily. In hastily attempting to diminish it, the Duffer Brothers have only strengthened a relationship which was, and will always be, intrinsic to the narrative.
Finally, given the time of year, I’d like to say that love is, actually, all around.
