On the darkest of nights, on the coldest of days, Mike Montgomery would often be woken by the sounds of the outdoors. The calling off owls, the late drive ins by cars as well as the slowly ticking and creaking noise that came from the clock which is on the wall directly above him. But of all nights, this night, Mike wasn't woken by a loud car horn. Or those pesky little birds annoying sounds but by something else. His own thoughts. A we know how dangerous our own thoughts can be. It can turn a persons who personality like a light switch. This dream of Mike wasn't one he could get himself out of. And it wasn't filled with candy canes and rainbows.
Mike's dream was seen from a first person perspective. Blurry but still visible. He stood with an old friend of his. Todd. He met Todd at the age off for. But in reality, his heart beat was fastening. Todd was the completely opposite of Mike. Calm and willing to share whereas Mike was one of those aggressive children. That didn't like to share his teddy bear. But him and Todd were inseparable as kids. They were like brother in mind but not blood related. In fact, they were close enough to even be twins. When together, Mike was as calm as he could possibly be. They spent there best childhood moment together. But one day, a 5 year old Mike got so angry. Feeling bubbling up inside him. Enough to send murder into his soul and rage into his head? Possibly... But as of now, Shadows were lurking behind him. What had Mike just done. It was clear, and after fitting the piece of the screams and Todd's lifeless body on the floor, he'd realized he killed him. In the state, Mike saw the light leave his eyes and him dropping to the floor. His head now bleeding and the blood all over his bare hands. Mike Montgomery. A killer and didn't even know it. Not till now anyway
Mike woke up, taking a massive gasp of air and he was he sweating. So much so, sweat stains were visible on his bed lining. "I-I killed him" Mike mutters to himself. What he said had mad complete sense. Why else would he never have seen his childhood best friend since that day. But what he was wondering was, who covered up for him. Aria? His parents? Or maybe some other freak circumstance that meant that Mike wasn't a suspect. But it was him. The result of empting some medication, crushing them, and putting them into his drink lead to the death of the young boy. He puts on some clean clothes. "Mom...I'm going out and skipping breakfast" He shouts, takes his keys before slamming the door behind him.
Mike was worried for his own safety and well being. Stuff like this would get them a one way ticket to Radley. I mean, that's what happened to Mona, right? Her brain sent into a frenzy. He knew Mona was in a better place now but Mike didn't want himself in that situation. The fresh morning breeze cutting across his face, and the mystic rays of the sun touching him ever so gently. It was the perfect day. But in his mind, it was dark, clouded and stormy. A completely contradiction from what the weather outside was reflecting. How on Earth did he get himself into this state?
The young brunette wasn't going home till dark. Ignoring any calls and text from his parents, Aria or friends. Nobody would know of his whereabouts. He opens the door to the Brew, realizing it was empty. he needed an outlet. He needed to confess to what he did. Or out last say it out loud once and be able to put it behind him.
Mike walks into the Brew, anxious as ever. His hands jittery in his pockets, coming in and out, sometime rubbing the back of his neck in a awkward and messy manner. Mike was scared. What if someone heard? That'd be the end of his life. The end of his family. The end of any possible kind of future plans Mike had in life. It'd be put on pause. But this secret was consuming him on the inside. So it was like blab or die to him. So this was it. Where Mike would make the being confession to ever effect his life and most likely how he'd live his life from now on.
Mike took sat down, his eyes teary. "Okay..So this is how this thing works" He said and started to talk. "Oh...So here goes nothing" He said with a slightly crackle in his voice. "I-I....I killed someone. Not just anyone. And it wasn't by accident. I'm a murderer" He said, trying his absolute hardest to not cry. though water was completely visible, holding them back was futile
Mike cried throughout his speech. "Todd....I killed him. My best friend. My brother if I ever had one...He's gone and it's all my fault." He sobs and slams his fist down on the desk. "He had a life ahead of him." He said rest his head on the desk. "I'm done...I can't do this" Mike said before storming out of the Brew. Filled full of emotions. His head not on the planet. Somewhere only God knew right now. Mike took a look around and once he thought he saw a figure, he put up his dark -A like hoodie and makes a sprint back towards his house.
