“Hey, it was just a question that’s been goin around the office. Just a game, nothing else.” Mike replied as he lifted his hands in a way to show he was innocent. ”You know I love Leah and would never do that to her, Amelia.”
“I know, I know you wouldn’t,” Amelia responded just as quickly then sighed with a groan. “I just... I mean, I don’t... She would never think that, right?” she asked, a bit quieter. “You two... I mean, outside the job... You and Leah are the closest things I got to family, Mike.”

“So, our friendship didn’t mean anything?”
[Continued from here.]
@megestcnis:
Mike knew backlash would follow either decision he made on the Sokovia Accords, he thought he could handle it. After all, words made by to harm him from others never got to him, he was too TOUGH for that. However, having few close friends already, almost losing one hurt more than he had expected or wanted. “Amelia, look, I’m following the President’s ORDERS. You want me to go against that?” Granted he had in the past, but to protect the president and do his job. This, this was different.
Amelia gritted her teeth, her jaw locked. Hurt. Hurt was the main emotion in her eyes. There was the initial shock. It was there when Mike walked into the parking garage. Of all the people she expected, she hadn’t expected Mike.
“...And he’s my CAPTAIN...” she countered, her voice cold, sharp.
Anyone would have to be a damned fool if they thought Amelia was betraying him. Captain America. Steve Rogers. America’s sentinel of justice. And the man she was helplessly devoted to and in love with. Anyone who knew Amelia firsthand knew the last.
Personally, Amelia wanted to stay for the fight. It was Steve who implored her to escape now, while she could. She’d done her part. She got the overwrite code for Steve and Bucky to use on the quintjet to escape. Supposedly, no one knew of her involvement to assist them; she was their best bet to try and fight for the others, she had to go.
...She hadn’t expected to run into Mike at all, and now, here they were.
