Jack would say something, and you'd have to think about it for a few days before it'd come into clarity. He'd always try to illustrate a point by telling war stories... Back then you couldn't get through a conversation without hearing a war story. I remember asking Jack if he believed in God, and if there was a God. He said that everything comes through our sense of perception, and it my not be reality at all. And I remember him talking about being in a church with his group in WWII. And his captain said something about not lighting a match, not talking, not doing anything, because the enemy was nearby. It was pitch black, and he had to sit there quietly for hours.  And after a while he could discern shapes, and see little figures within the church, and he said something about this proving there was no such thing as abolute darkness. Nothing is black or white. There was no absolute good, and no absolute evil, and therefore there was no supreme being.
