Why does everyone think fiction is just fantasy wish fulfillment now and not like an exploration of themes and ideas
People will be like “this movie is evil and gross because it depicts a predatory relationship” and then you watch the movie in question and it’s about how preying on young women is bad and impacts their lives negatively
“Why would they do this instead of just making everyone in the movie nice and normal and good” so we would have this conversation….
May your mind and your tongue remain as sharp as your steel. . . . ⚔️BLUESKY ⚔️ALL OF ME⚔️
I've said this several times before but like. If you consider yourself any kind of activist, politician or communicator-to-the-public of any kind (even in just a vague part-of-the-movement way) I do kind of think doing hyperbolic rage-filled vent posts on any sort of related public identity is just outright malpractice and political self harm.
Do you recognize this TV theme song? #281
I know this and can name the series
I know this but can't name the series
I might know this
I've never heard this
like. i'll leave this alone. but HOW are historical romance books not sexualizing the fall of breeches. literally a blowjob flap. not to mention the collars that open to the diaphragm. the décolletage with a wide neckline one swift tug from being revealed. the calves on display. the intimacy of finally seeing the real hair beneath the wig. cmon it's basic storytelling
i love making a post that attracts everyone with usernames like mozartswigsweat and bonnetenthusiast and foppishrake and petticoatsonpetticoatsonpetticoats and dandyismunlimited within 48 hours. blessed webbed site. merry christmas to us all.
The US government's military operation in the Caribbean is supposedly intended to target "narco-terrorists." In my latest article, I explore the history of the term to argue that "narco-terrorism" is mostly a myth— a "political slogan" which does not accurately describe the world. By focusing our attention on foreign suppliers, this myth distracts us from more important factors, including the US government's own history of supporting drug trafficking.
Framing “Operation Southern Spear” as a battle against “narco-terrorists” is a desperate attempt to commit new violence using old excuses, o
To say that “narco-terrorism” is a myth is not to deny the obvious violence associated with the black market drug trade, but to acknowledge that the term does more to confuse than to clarify. The idea does not accurately explain the complex dynamics of the global drug trade; instead, it radically oversimplifies the problem. By portraying military intervention as a response to drug trafficking, the “narco-terrorism” myth allows politicians to ignore all of the ways in which military intervention is a cause of drug trafficking... Perhaps the greatest flaw of “narco-terrorism” is that it encourages us to believe that complex human problems have simple military solutions. Sociologist C. Wright Mills once astutely criticized US elites for accepting a “military definition of reality,” a distorted perspective which prevents them from imagining policy solutions that do not involve military intervention. So long as the government insists upon seeing non-military problems through a military lens, they will never be solved.
It is important to remember that the US government’s case against Maduro is almost entirely fictional
The US Ambassador to the United Nations repeated the claim that Maduro is the leader of the “Cartel de los Soles” in his ravings to the Security Council this morning. It continues to not exist.
The term “Cartel of the Suns” originated as a colloquial term used by Venezuelans to mock the military officials who maintained close ties with drug traffickers within the country’s corrupt power system (Venezuelan generals wear symbols of the sun on their uniform). It has no territory, no leadership, no structure or coherence at all; it is a reference to a systematic national problem. The concept of a “crooked cop” does not suggest that there’s a Crooked Cop Incorporated office building we can go after, but that’s what they’re doing by designating “Cartel de los Soles” as a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
Realizing that I was part of the last age bracket that grew up watching random 60s-70s shows bc they were on TV (by that point not so much in syndication, but on TV Land and other cable channels, like Cartoon Network airing old Hanna-Barbera shows next to current shows)
It was weird bc it did give you knowledge about the past but in a scattershot way where you end up seeing half the episodes of every garbage sitcom but have never seeing, say, Mary Tyler Moore or M*A*S*H. Which is still more than you get from streaming rarely featuring anything before 1990 or channels syndicating one show eight hours a day
Does it still count as a tuck if it's between my legs and he looks very offended about it?

Hmm, more of a hammock situation than a tuck-in... but look at that FACE! How could I NOT post this?
