This song and video are powerful examples of art in action! Mike Walrond, who is running for U.S. Congress in New York's 13th Congressional District, is a brilliant, bold, visionary and compassionate leader.  Mike has helped transform the lives of thousands of people (including mine) as a community organizer and pastor of First Corinthian Baptist Church (FCBC) in central Harlem.  

A huge supporter of the arts, "Pastor Mike" renovated FCBC's sanctuary into performance space - thereby providing exciting, affordable theater, dance and music events to the community.  Mike also established the Dream Center, a facility that provides artistic, educational, health and fitness, entrepreneurial and other programs free of charge to children, teenagers and adults in Harlem.

Mike's work, teachings and mantra - that we are "the embodiment of infinite possibilities" - motivated and inspired Harlem, New York-based, multi-talented artist/entrepreneur/blogger Toy Holmes to develop, write, create and produce this incredible song and video "R.F.T.W. (#NowIsTheTime)." Although Toy's journey through this creative process was beyond challenging, she was determined to use her gifts to show gratitude for Mike's tireless work and generosity, as she rallied a call to action to help his campaign.

Although they may not always recognize or utilize it, artists possess tremendous power to positively influence others. When their talents and gifts are activated to serve a purpose greater than and beyond themselves, the result is often astounding. Artists ARE Activists and Art is a Weapon.  Now is The Time and We Are The Ones!
