Day 3 - Reflection & Refraction [Miladeen and Allie Baelsar]
Now for my true rarepair - Miladeen from the Sharlayan custom deliveries and Allie!!!
I honestly didn't know what would happen when I opened up my canvas tonight. I wasn't even sure what ship I'd draw... apparently I'm expanding the Allideen lore. Firstly, Makoh'to floats the idea of Allie doing the exchange program in Sharlayan and she ultimately decides to go. Allie keeps her rather infamous last name (Baelsar) and finds it very lonely in Sharlayan, where everyone is acutely aware of her adoptive father's legacy... but Miladeen, hailing from Thavnair where they were spared the terrible fate of other territories, is not as innately familiar with the terrors the Garlean Empire have imposed among the star. Miladeen herself being an exchange student strikes up conversation with Allie - the girls become close during their time studying in the program.
In this scene I imagined Allie has expressed wishing to know more about Werlytian history, but how a lot of the material was confiscated or burned when under Garlean rule... Miladeen finds a book about Werlytian history in the library, excitedly showing Allie! Rather than bring Allie excitement, it dredges up a moment from her past that reminders her why she has to seek out Werlytian historical texts at all. (And even then this one may very well be written with the scholarly slant of an observer from Sharlayan...)
