quil..... crawls toward you....... did you ever make a post about the characters potential birthdays or ages....... someone did at some time and i don't know where or when........ i'm trying to timeline out a fic and i found your timeline post (SO HELPFUL) and another timeline post (month-oriented generalizations) on the fandom site but i cannot find the one post..... sniffle.

Hi, Nonsie! Ty for your patience--I could've sworn I made a post about ages, but could not for the life of me find it. So I've recalculated everything for you!

These are the kotlcrew's ages to the best of my calculations as of the end of Stellarlune/start of Elysian:

Sophie: 15 and 8 months in elven years, 14 and 11 in human years

Biana: 14 and 10 months in ey, 14 and 1 in hy

Dex: 15 and 3 months ey, 14 and 6 hy

Keefe: 16 and 3 months ey, 15 and 6 hy

Fitz: 17 and 2 months ey, 16 and 5 hy

Tam and Linh: Estimated 16 ey. It's unspecified, but I'd hazard 16 and 4-6 months? Which makes them 15 and 7-9 months hy.

Wylie: Unspecified, but around 20-21 ey, unclear hy.

Rayni: She was one year below Wylie, so 19-20 ey, unclear hy.

Stina: As a Level 4, 14-15 ey, unclear hy.

Maruca: As a Level 4, 14-15 ey, unclear hy.

Marella: As a Level 4, 14-15 ey, unclear hy.

I have done mild rounding, so if some numbers seem fudged, that's why.

You will also note from this that, while we don't know specific birthdays, Dex and Keefe's are 1-2 weeks apart, and Fitz's is within a month of that.

First impressions of The Umbrella Academy’s second season:

Pacing is its biggest issue, and I definitely feel like the first half drags a bit and then the action hits very rapidly and could’ve used a little more breathing space late season. However, I do see why they went for that format because it allowed for some more intensive character examination.

Splitting them up initially felt like a mistake, but it eventually worked out thematically in a way that made sense to me as each character had to confront their own neuroses and fears through their relationships to others before reconnecting to each other. Luther is probably still the weakest character trajectory to me, and I’m not sure if that’s because the actor is questionable or it’s just that his issues are so obvious and less complex than the others that he doesn’t have as much pathos to work with.

The Swedes didn’t quite work for me. I get why they went that direction as a radical shift to contrast S1, but the cost is the loss of two far more charismatic actors. I miss Blidge’s wicked energy and blistering approach.

At first, I wasn’t certain how I felt about setting it in the 60s because I inevitably knew racism and LGBT+ issues would have to rear their head in the storyline. As much as I’d loved to see more radical sci-fi where these aren’t even issues anymore, I did appreciate that they were treated with weight, with it made clear how traumatic it would be for the characters subjected to it to have to readjust to a less progressive society. I also appreciate that they didn’t pretend the modern area was perfect in that regard.

I enjoyed the vicious call back to the idea of needing to be “significant.” This season examined why being special isn’t necessarily a gift very cleverly, using Vanya front and center.

Ellen Page really got to shine this season. All of them, actually, felt more confidant in the characters they were portraying. There are a couple relationships that you know can’t last as matter of course, but the story never makes them feel unimportant.

One thing this series continues to do very well is examine the damage abusive parental figures do to their children. It doesn’t pussyfoot around the toxic behaviors it can induce and how shitty it is that the kids are the one who wind up having to navigate their way through repair work. It’s especially well done with Luther, who we see falling into the same toxic paternal arrangements again and again until he finally just learns...not to.

Lila is either going to be an amazing addition to the cast or one they’ll flub quickly if they get another season. I’m meh about her ultimate direction these season in terms of the reveal around her, but the actress is very good, so it’ll be interesting what they do with her.

They’re still really dragging out the Hargreeves’ plot, aren’t they? We still don’t know what he’s after, even though they’ve stirred the pot verifying a few implied details in S1.

Overall, not quite as strong as S1 but some really great character work. I enjoyed it for the most part.

Well Vox certainly didn’t disappoint in timing! Alastor was on his knees, heartbeat pounding in his ears as he debated all the ways he should have been able to take down his nemesis with ease- though having his hands bound behind his back and his magic failing to respond didn’t help matters at all. Vox was currently fiddling with what appeared to be a camera while the deer struggled not to forget how to breathe. Oh, it would be so easy for the overlord to press a gun against his head.

“Done! Alright, now smile for the camera, Al!” Vox sneered, shoving the black box in his face. A flash left spots dancing across his vision for a moment as the tv-head stepped back. A few more seconds and he was looking up, able to see the familiar face popping up on Vox’s screen.

“So, what do you think? Too much?” Vox huffed as Alastor took in his own picture on the screen- he's certainly looked better before. Blood was trickling from his nose, reddening his wobbly smile, and contrasting the purplish bruises marring his eye. Usually immaculate hair was in disarray, almost hiding the portion of his antler that’d been snapped off. The deer opened his mouth to tell Vox exactly what he thought of his picture, but a ragged cough cut him off, and oh wonderful now there was blood dripping down his chin as well.

“No,” Vox sighed, his face glitching back to his screen with a vicious sneer, “I can get a better picture for your friends than that!” Alastor grit his teeth, ears twitching lower as the overlord strode closer, burying a hand in his hair and yanking his head back until a gasp of pain escaped. Eyes squeezed shut, he could still see the flash of light as Vox took another photo and released his head a second later. This picture conveyed his vulnerability much more than the first and Alastor hated it.

“See, that one’s so much better! I think it’ll give them a clear idea of how easily I could beat the Hell out of you if they don’t give me what I want...I think they care about you too much,” The tv-head laughed, tossing the camera to his desk as he leaned back against it. “Really, did the Princess think this would stay quiet for long? I’m not a fuckin’ idiot, I think I’d notice if my nemesis popped up again after I put a bullet in his skull. And I’ll gladly do it again if I have to...It’s rather rewarding seeing the late great, Radio Demon, bleeding and bruised at my feet.”

Alastor’s hands were trembling behind his back, despite the ferocity in his eyes as he watched Vox send the picture to Charlie and the others at the Hotel. The deer wanted so badly to gut this demon, but it would seem things were out of his hands at the moment...His ears went even lower, eyes sliding closed in a mixture of exhaustion and defeat. He was all too happily reminded of why he hated modern technology in the first place.
