Prep Time
CW: hypnosis, non-sexual nudity
Miles blinks slowly as the door opens, revealing Miss Edith and another vampire, different than the one who did the evaluation. Miss Edith gives a strange gesture and the second vampire walks over to Miles, holding another tray of gourmet food.
“Adele, make sure he eats it all,” Miss Edith says, stepping closer and smiling at Miles. “Little boy, your time has finally come! The auction is today!”
“We have everything planned out,” The other vampire, Adele, says to Miles as she lifts the glass of water to Miles’ lips. “Drink,” Adele orders, and Miles does exactly that, draining half of it.
“Your outfit should arrive in twenty minutes, then we’ll do your hair and makeup,” Miss Edith continues, checking a watch on her wrist. “The auction for working thralls ends at three, so our time slot should be finished by dawn.”
Adele orders Miles to open his mouth, and she starts feeding him spoonfuls of soup. Faintly, Miles realizes he hasn’t eaten in at least two days, but he doesn’t pay that any mind, too fuzzy to think. “Before the actual auction starts, there’s a mingling rooms where potential buyers can meet new thralls,” The vampire tells Miles. “That usually takes an hour and a half, then the auction.”
Miss Edith cards a hand through Miles’ hair, which was tangled and dry from days in his cell. “After food we need to wash you,” She mutters, glancing at her watch again. “That shouldn’t take more than twenty minutes, right? Then we’ll dress and do makeup.” Adele nods in agreement.
Ten minutes pass as Miles finishes the plates, his stomach completely full by the end. Adele unties the ropes holding him to his chair— when did that happen?— and Miss Edith pulls him up.
“Get the bath ready,” Miss Edith tells Adele, who nods and dashes to a door off in the corner. Miss Edith smiles at Miles, who has a blank look on his face. “How about we practice how to speak with your masters?” She suggests, and Miles only nods. “When you address a vampire, always end with Miss or Sir. Don’t ask questions, keep your answers short and sweet, and keep your head bowed. Yes?”
“Yes, Miss,” Miles answers, and Miss Edith grins.
The door opens again, revealing Adele. “The bath’s ready,” She announced, and Miss Edith guides Miles into the next room.
She sits him down on a chair next to the half full bath, and pulls his cardigan off, throwing it in the hamper. “Auction rules— thralls will wear gowns,” Miss Edith says simply as she pulls Miles’ shirt off as well. “Pants aren’t suitable for such an event, if your master wants you in pants they’ll dress you in pants after they buy you, simple as that.”
Once Miles was fully stripped, Adele helped him into the bath, using a small bowl to pour warm water over his shoulders and hair. Miles stares at the faucet, sitting still as Adele covers him in soap.
He’s maneuvered around a bit through the washing, but stays in once place while they work on his hair. Adele coos once or twice how good of a thrall he was, complimenting Miss Edith on her work, but Miles pays no mind, even as Miss Edith smiles.
Then he’s rinsed off and pulled out of the bath, letting them dry him off. “Put these on,” Adele orders, handing Miles some undergarments.
Finally, Miss Edith works some products into Miles hair, and Adele gasps in delight at the finished look.
“Good as new!” She whispers in awe, before a knock on the door turns her around. Miles starts staring at the ceiling, blinking slowly as he’s been doing for the past few days.
The next thing he knew, Adele was telling him to step into a petticoat, and then Miss Edith and Adele were struggling a dress over his head. He lets them, shifting so the straps slide over his arms. It was a red dress, or at least a red corset, and a black skirt. The skirt fell over the petticoat, making it poofy.
“Aren’t you a cutie?” Adele coos as she gently lifts Miles’ head, brushing some blush across his cheeks and nose, then wipes some lip gloss over his lips.
“Do you think this is enough to catch the attention of Carter, Alarie, or Clark?” Miss Edith questions, squinting her eyes at Miles with one hand crossed over her chest and the other holding her chin.
Adele guides Mikes to sit down as she starts on his lashes. “Not Carter,” She answers almost immediately, focusing her eyes on Miles’ face. “Clark.. I’m not sure. He always has the strangest tastes..” She finishes one eye and starts on the other. “But we have a chance with Alarie.”
Miss Edith nods as Adele finishes the makeup and picks shoes from her shelf, easily slipping Miles’s feet into a pair of maroon heels. And to finish it off, she pulls Miles’ hands into maroon gloves.
Adele steps back to study her work, then turns to Miss Edith with a grin. “We got a good one.”

Ari’s Problem
CW: mentions of kidnapping
Ari had a problem. A huge, massive, terrible problem. The biggest problem in his entire college year. It was worse than that time he flunked his math test and had to do a retake. It was worse than that time he fell off the stage in a live production of Heathers. It was worse than when someone spoiled the ending of his favorite book franchise!
Miles was missing.
College had started up on August 29th, on a Tuesday, and Ari had four beautiful days of realizing Miles was in not one, not two, not three, not even four, but five of his classes! In a row!
Then he texted Miles on that Sunday for homework answers, using him as a last resort because he was terrified of saying something wrong.
And then Miles wasn’t at school on Monday.
Or Tuesday, or Wednesday. Or Thursday, or Friday! Ari started to become worried on Wednesday, and when he asked around, none of their mutual friends knew where he was either. He texted the other boy, but Miles didn’t respond. Once it got to Friday he resorted to calling, but Miles didn’t pick up.
Now it was the Monday of the third week of school, and Ari was staring at Miles’ empty desk, which was set right next to him. His brow furrowed.
“Has he texted you back yet?” One of his friends questions softly, standing over Ari’s own seat.
“No,” Ari sighs, shaking his head lightly. “You?”
The friend, Lana, looks over by the door, where students were crowding around as they struggled to leave. She shakes her head as well.
“Guys,” Another friend, this one named Caleb, said in a low voice, looking at his phone in shock. Lana and Ari turn. “Miles’ parents reported him missing, finally.” Ari’s face with pale. “And they just found his headphones on a sidewalk.” Oh god. “They were kicked into the bushes, but the investigators aren’t sure if that’s important or just random people.”
Ari turns back to his desk, running a hand through his hair. Lana mutters something about why Caleb has Miles’ parents number, but she looked rattled.
He’s officially missing. And the last time anyone saw him was two weeks ago. Ari thought to himself. Two weeks is easily enough time to kill and hide a body— Ari abruptly shook his head. No! Miles is not dead. He can’t be.
“What— What should we do then?” He whispers, looking at his friends. “If he’s missing, he’s in danger. We can’t just sit around and do nothing.”
“But Ari, we’re not police,” Caleb says in a nervous hush, brows turning up with distress. “We’re just college students, there’s nothing we can do.”
“We could spread the news at least,” Lana suggests, making both Caleb and Ari frown. Lana huffs at their confused expressions, setting her hands on her hips. “The more people looking for him, the more likely he’ll be found. And we can start fundraising money to help the cause— ever heard of that? We can’t do a lot, but we can do some.” She gives a pointed look at Caleb, who frowns.
Ari opens his phone as he finally stands up, clicking into Miles’ contact like another text will magically appear. He sighs when he sees none, and turns to his friends again. “Lets go tell Ruby and Danny,” He says, making Lana nod curtly.
So yeah, Ari had a big problem.

His cell
CW: captivity, kidnapping
Miles woke up in a dark room with a pounding headache. He groans in pain as his lifts his head, raising his hand to rub his fuzzy eyes, but ends up tugging his other hand off the ground in the action and causing him to fall back down.
“Ow..” Miles mutters, opening his eyes and looking at his wrists. To his utter shock, there were shiny metal handcuffs holding his hands together.
Wait a damn minute.
“Holy fuck,” Miles whispers to himself, eyes wide in terror. The last few moments before he blacked out came back to him, and he sits up quickly, forgetting his headache in favor of this much bigger problem. “Oh shit, oh god, oh no, no, no, no, no!”
The chain between the two cuffs was about two inches wide, not long enough to let his hands move separately. Miles looks up and pales.
Instead of a room like he first thought, he was in a small cell with no source of light. Except the bars were in front of a wall anyway, so what were the points of the bars? The door was also covered in bars, with a small closed slot in the top middle.
“Oh god,” Miles whispers to himself, lifting both hands to cover his mouth, his body starting to shake with fear. “This can’t be happening.”
He was still wearing the clothes from before, aside from his bag and his headphones. He reached for his pockets, but his phone and wallet were also missing. He curses a few times, uselessly pulling on his handcuffs, which only make a taunting jingle.
Then the small slot slides open, and Miles goes quiet as he looks up. A pair of red eyes glittering down at him, clearly smiling behind the door.
“Good! You’re awake!” The person says cheerfully, and the slot closes again. Miles hears it unlocking, then the door opens, then the bars open too. The person grins down at them, her glowing red eyes sending a shiver down Miles’ spine. “Hope you don’t mind the small suite we got you, it was the only one open at the moment!”
“Who— Who are you?” Miles questions, moving to scramble backwards, his handcuffs making it hard to do a simple and panicked task.
The person laughs at that, a squealing sort of bark. “That’s none of your concern, kiddo, I’m only here to feed you,” They say, leaning over and picking something up around the door. When her arms came back, they revealed a tray of gourmet food.
Miles moves a little farther back as the woman walked forward, setting the tray on the ground before walking back to the doorway.
He didn’t trust that food one bit, no matter how delicious it looked. “Eat up, you get one meal a day,” The person says cheerfully. “Make sure to savor it, you’ll miss these in a few days.”
“What does that mean?” Miles questions, his voice shaking. The person only laughs again, making Miles panic even more. “What does that mean?”
“Don’t worry about it,” They say, before backing up and shutting the door, locking it. Miles trembles more. The slot slides open. “Have a good day!”
Then the slot slides close again, and Miles stares at the food in shock. It was a bowl of mashed potatoes, a bowl of a stew, a plate of chicken with a thick slice of bread, a glass of water, and a small cup of tea. Miles’ gaze turned into one of disgust.
There is no way I’m eating that.
~~~~
Twelve hours later, and the mashed potatoes bowl was empty, the stew only holding the discarded mushrooms. The chicken was gone, as well as the bread. A little bit of water remained, and the tea was still half full.
Miles was struggling to stay upright. It’s been long past the twenty four hour mark of being awake, and Miles had already yawned at least ten times.
Falling asleep for an hour isn’t bad. Miles thinks to himself through another yawn. They haven’t even tried to come in again, I can waste an hour.
That was all the convincing Miles needed before toppling over to the side, body limp and lips ajar.
Almost instantly, the door opens again, and two vampires stepped inside. The first one narrowed her eyes at Miles, a menacing smirk on her lips, and the second one waits for orders behind the first.
“Set it up,” The first vampire says, giving a dismissive gesture to the second.
“Yes, Miss Edith,” The second says, getting to work.
Miss Edith walks over to where Miles had collapsed, crouching down and gently lifting the boy’s head with her hand on his cheek. Her smirk turns to a soft smile, using her other hand to trace his cheek.
“Yes, this is the one for Madame Agathe,” She whispers, tilting her own head to the side as she shifts Miles. “The one to win the prize.”
Headphone Disaster
CW: kidnapping, slight violence
Music was playing through his headphones, not loud enough to damage his ears, but loud enough to block out the world around him. His hands were in his pockets, the end of summer air brushing past his hair. There were no clouds in his sight, which was both a good and a bad thing.
He loved walking back to his dorm after class, especially at this time of day and this time of the season, it was just so refreshing and nice.
Miles pulled his phone from his pocket as he walked, the buzz of a notification making him blink in surprise. He checked the name, it was Ari.
Immediately, he stifles a little gasp, halting in his steps. He moves to the edge of the sidewalk so no one gets mad at him for blocking the way, then opens the message with wide eyes.
Hey Miles, what did you get for question 6? i asked everyone else who has our math class.
“Damn,” Miles mutters to himself, disappointment fluttering through his chest. He knew just because Ari texted him doesn’t immediately mean the guy likes him back— hell, they text all the time.
Sorry, I’m walking home, i cant get my work yet.
All good! text me when you can i totally am not cheating off my friends <3
Miles stares at the text for five whole seconds. Ari sent a heart. It wasn’t an emoji, did that make it platonic? Or make it more romantic? What if Ari didn’t mean it as anything but friends? Man, he hated over thinking. Miles pouted as what felt like a dark cloud came over his head.
He moved back in the middle of the sidewalk, adjusting his headphones. Music blocked out sounds, and his phone took his attention.
As always, he takes a screen shot and sends it to the thread with his two best friends, Ruby and Felix. It took a minute, but then Ruby sent a million heart emojis while Felix told him to ‘stop filling our chat with your ooey gooey crushness’.
“Ah, what a fine specimen,” A silky voice says next to him. Miles blinks, looking left and seeing a man standing right next to him, smirking mischievously, tilting his head. “Are you ready to leave?”
“What? Who are—?” Miles starts, but the man abruptly grabs him by the jaw with his palm against Miles’ mouth, successfully muffling him. “Mhhgh!”
The man digs his nails into Miles’ skin, dragging him to stand. “Shush,” The man murmurs. “I’m trying to study the specimen.” Miles grabs the arm to pull it off, but the man’s grip was incredibly powerful. “Nice hair, your skin is good, eyes are a beaut brown… yes, blood smells like grade A.”
What the hell is this guy talking about? Miles thought, still struggling in the man grip. His headphones were pushed off his head by the man’s free arm. Damnit, this is why you keep an ear open.
“You could sell for a great deal of money,” The man notes, and Miles’ eyes widened in fear. Money? What the hell was going on?
Then abruptly, the man’s free hand chopped through the air on the top of Miles’ head, knocking him unconscious. Miles goes limp, only being held up by the stone grip the man has on his jaw.
“Up we go,” The man says, shifting to pick Miles up in a bridal carry. He tenses, then disappears, leaving the sun shining on the discarded headphones.
