Reformed raiders Frances and Lena sporting Militia colors during their first combat operation since conscription. Raiders who surrender without a fuss are taken to the nearest training site for indoctrination, learning small unit tactics and basic combat skills before being outfitted as Militiamen and folded into SMT's or settlement guard units. As many as 30% of combat-MOS Militiamen are former raiders; many jump at the chance to exchange their gunfighting skills for a higher quality of life than gang bosses can offer them.

Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) are, under Militia doctrine, radio-capable squad-sized elements posted at strategic command posts in each command section and held there on a permanent standby status. Upon activation - usually in response to a security alert, although they have other applications - the QRF rapidly mobilize and deploy to the location of disturbance, with the goal of arriving on site one hour from first call.

QRF selection prioritizes experienced combat-MOS Militiamen, and is held quarterly at regional command centers. Most QRF personnel are seasoned mobile team troopers, typically reinforced by a specialist like a technician or medic, and led by veteran SMT operators, provisioner team members, or staff from other elite combat units.

G-squad is composed of an automatic rifleman, radiotelephone operator, and designated marksman, led by an experienced medic. Their names have been withheld to maintain OPSEC.

13 June 2291 / Somerville Place

Two Militiamen lie dead outside of the secure perimeter after a grueling battle with the hostile local fauna. Ian (top) was a mobile medic sent here on his first deployment to establish a clinic in the remote and dangerous settlement; Matteo (bottom) was an automatic rifleman who had been stationed here from the very start. After the two met they quickly became inseparable, and when Matteo led his ill-fated counterattack past the wire, Ian was right behind him. Both played an important part in the safe zone, and their absence will be felt for weeks to come.

16 January 2290 / Starlight Drive-In

Militia security forces pose outside the Starlight safe zone. Starlight has served as a Militia hard point since our earliest days, and holds the distinction of being our very first recruitment center. Since the Halloween attack the installation's training facilities have been reactivated; non-Coalition Militiamen in the northern Commonwealth come here for basic weapons training.

Some Militiamen relaxing near the generator room. A fireteam (three riflemen and a machine gunner) got reassigned here from our recruitment center to lighten the load on the security force there following Peyton's death.
