After the initial design phase, I tried another round using red and blue color schemes to emphasize the classic superhero connection, and because it made it a bit easier to make all the elements clearer. I think now that the color schemes kind of held the process back, but it's all part of it in the end :)
These were the first two made with the new color scheme in mind. Meh, nothing special, but I do like, for example, the weight of the cape on Anna's shoulders in the first picture, and the idea of removable sleeves. I held on to those ideas for future designs.
These two are functionally identical, with the second picture being a more fleshed out variation of the first. At this point, I began to play with the idea of the red of the body being a lighter shade than the red of the cape, to make it more readable in motion.
These two were my logical conclusion to this particular line of thought, and while I think they stray a bit from the original concept of "regal", I still find them to be solid designs to be tinkered with :)
