Hard to believe that I had never taken the tour of the historic Ford Piquette Avenue Plant before, but yesterday I finally checked it off my list. Anyone who appreciates Henry Ford and the history of Ford Motor Company, automotive history, Detroit history, etc., this is the tour for you. The Piquette Plant, designed by Field, Hinchman & Smith, an offshoot of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls, and built in 1904, was the first property owned by Mr. Ford himself. Some of the most revolutionary automobiles of the day came out of this little New England mill-style building, most notably the game-changing Model T, one of the 20th century's greatest achievements. Visitors from around the globe come to see the place that put the world on wheels. Definitely one of the most significant cultural heritage sites not only in the United States, but the world. #Detroit #MilwaukeeJunction #MillStyle #IndustrialArchitecture #HenryFord #FordMotorCompany #SmithHinchmanandGrylls #PiquetteAvenue #RawDetroit #PureMichigan #PureMittigan #MotorCityShooters #PureDetroit313 #DepictTheD #VisitDetroit #Michiganders #IGersDetroit #detroit_igers #ThisPlaceMatters #ThisPlaceMattersDetroit #MichiganPlacesMatter #SceneFromDetroit #ThisDetroitLife #GalaxyS8 #withGalaxy #ShotFromTheGalaxy (at Ford Piquette Avenue Plant)
